  • A great "loon" experience

"We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this beautiful home on Pickerel Bay. The view from the living room affords the opportunity to see beautiful sun rises and sunsets as well as loon and eagle watching. We woke up to loons every day and each evening we listened again as they called to each other to find their way "home". We saw a few eagles (or maybe it was the same one) over the course of our two week stay. Even watching the rain was enjoyable to us as we found it very relaxing. The water is so clear, we would sit on the dock and watch the fish. Hubby caught many bass, but the walleye seemed to stay in hiding. We ended up going to Pughole Lake and there he caught quite a few Northern Pike. We loved taking drives down the many dirt roads but found out that without 4-wheel drive it wouldn't be a good idea...and if the sign says "share the road" and there's a picture of a 4-wheeler, well, you may not want to venture down that road! lol We ate at Cedar Creek Grille and found the food wonderful, but mostly cooked at the cabin, either inside or on the gas grill. On rainy days we watched movies and took naps and did puzzles, but when we could, we were on the water! It was so nice having a dock as it would rain, then clear up and we could go for a paddle in the kayaks to watch the sun set...sigh...loved it! We paddled to Little Trout Lake one day and saw a Loon on her nest, then she dove into the water and we were able to see her swimming it was so clear. Another day we paddled to Trout Lake and we paddled to Bluewater Lake a couple of times. The water is a bluish green on Bluewater Lake and Little Trout...just like you're kayaking in an acquarium...can't say enough about it! We purchased wood from Greg up the road and had a bonfire one night and it got a little chilly another night so we actually had a fire in the fireplace, lol. All the accommodations were wonderful. I wonder, however, would you consider including the motor boat with the rental? :)"

  • Great place for our family vacation!

"We had 7 adults and we all slept comfortably. The beds on the porch area was great sleeping as you got a great breeze through there. The deck was close to the waters edge, had two tables so we could all eat outdoors. Plenty of yard space to play some yard games and a great fire pit! It really worked great for us!"

  • A breath of fresh air

"Our whole family has been gushing about our week at Burrows Lake since we got home last month. Our time there was simply a breath of fresh air for all of us. Our children loved the freedom to run and frolic and fish and splash in the water. The lake bottom is sandy, but firm, and shockingly was still weedless in August! We loved kayaking on the calm still lake, and fishing from the dock (tons of fish of different sizes and types to be caught!). We were thrilled to pick our fill of ripe raspberries and blackberries as we walked the property. But perhaps the very best part was the distraction free, quiet, atmosphere. We were so thrilled to step out of our van upon arrival and listen closely and hear.....nothing! I know most people want to know the nitty-gritty when they are reading the reviews. I know I am always curious to know if a VRBO is clean and well appointed. This cabin had a beautiful layout, was very clean, and all beds and furniture were very comfortable. There were plenty of towels/dishes/etc and the hosts have thought of just about every detail to make it a very comfortable place to stay. Our favorite place in the house was the dining room with huge windows overlooking the lake--it's the perfect place to savor a cup of coffee in the early morning!"

  • Relaxing Bass Lake

"The property was well clean, well maintain, and the pictures of the house inside and out were accurate. Inside the house was very tasteful in decor and very clean. We did not see the property manager all week, but had access to him by cell phone, if we needed his assistant. Easy access to the lake with a flat ground and a beautiful new dock to go on to your boat. The house was not far from Grand Rapids less than 20 minutes away to get groceries or just to visit shops. The lake was nice size not too large and had islands to fish around as well as a natural shore line with many lily pads and reeds for bass to hide. Bass lake was large enough for jet skis and tubing, if you are interested, but also many quiet places for fishing and enjoying nature. Many times we saw the Bald Eagles fly over the lake as well as other variety of birds such as lake heron, ducks, and those beautiful haunting sounds of the loons. In addition, the beautiful hummingbirds and a Baltimore Oriole visited their feeder on their large deck. We would of given it 5 stars, if the appliances and furniture were updated. The couch, love seat, and chair look nice, but the seat cushions were not firm so it was hard to get out of as well as the major appliances in the kitchen were old such as the stove had to be unplug every time we cook because an error code kept coming on. We cook so that is something important to us. Finally, the bed mattress in the main bedroom was saggy and not firm at all so it needs to be replace."
