"I made reservations at Daisy Bay Resort for a 3 bedroom cabin starting August 21st, after researching all of the various resorts in the area, including Polley's (across the street from Indian Bay Hideaway) which was my other consideration. I was looking for the least expensive price that could fit my 6 adult family, along with my 4 very young grandchildren.
On motzei Shabbos (we are Jews who observe the Sabbath); Saturday night, my children informed me that the 3 bedroom place was much too small for all of us and - my youngest married son went to VRBO, which I had never heard of before, to see if anything was available.
When he told me about this place and the price, I told him that he must be mistaken. Assured that he was not, I told him that it wasn't going to be available Sunday night through Wednesday night... It was.
I booked Indian Bay Hideway Sunday morning, online, and it took all of 1/2 hour, including having Jason email me back (he had to be personally contacted because it was a same day rental) and have VRBO accept our reservation and pay for it.
We loved this wonderful 5 bedroom home and were enthralled at how he had renovated it from a single story log cabin. There is a photo book at the downstairs bar showing how it was done and, Anita?, the professional cleaning service woman's husband actually worked on the cabin, changing it into the beautiful home that it is today. Oh, and Anita really does clean the place professionally. Everything was tiptop.
Campfires every night outside. Awe inspiring stars that one can never see anymore near the cities. We rented a pontoon boat from Polley's and went fishing with the whole group for 3/4 of a day. The pontoon was not pretty but, it cost less than 1/2 of what we were going to pay across from Daisy Bay Resort. Plus, they're really nice folks at Polley's.
We went to the Soudan Mine, about 1/2 drive away.
And, on a whim (and recommendation from Furniture Plus - which really is a furniture store but, is also a "tourist store" with a LOT of stuff to amuse and clothe), we went to Cook's Country Connection, (https://cookscountryconnection.com/) which is basically a kind of "petting zoo" plus playground plus just a great place for kids and families.
But we spent most of our time eating; playing; talking; relaxing; and sleeping at Jason's wonderfully beautiful; well equipped; incredibly well laid out; with all of the amenities of home, isolated cabin at lovely Lake Vermillion."
