  • A great "loon" experience

"We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this beautiful home on Pickerel Bay. The view from the living room affords the opportunity to see beautiful sun rises and sunsets as well as loon and eagle watching. We woke up to loons every day and each evening we listened again as they called to each other to find their way "home". We saw a few eagles (or maybe it was the same one) over the course of our two week stay. Even watching the rain was enjoyable to us as we found it very relaxing. The water is so clear, we would sit on the dock and watch the fish. Hubby caught many bass, but the walleye seemed to stay in hiding. We ended up going to Pughole Lake and there he caught quite a few Northern Pike. We loved taking drives down the many dirt roads but found out that without 4-wheel drive it wouldn't be a good idea...and if the sign says "share the road" and there's a picture of a 4-wheeler, well, you may not want to venture down that road! lol We ate at Cedar Creek Grille and found the food wonderful, but mostly cooked at the cabin, either inside or on the gas grill. On rainy days we watched movies and took naps and did puzzles, but when we could, we were on the water! It was so nice having a dock as it would rain, then clear up and we could go for a paddle in the kayaks to watch the sun set...sigh...loved it! We paddled to Little Trout Lake one day and saw a Loon on her nest, then she dove into the water and we were able to see her swimming it was so clear. Another day we paddled to Trout Lake and we paddled to Bluewater Lake a couple of times. The water is a bluish green on Bluewater Lake and Little Trout...just like you're kayaking in an acquarium...can't say enough about it! We purchased wood from Greg up the road and had a bonfire one night and it got a little chilly another night so we actually had a fire in the fireplace, lol. All the accommodations were wonderful. I wonder, however, would you consider including the motor boat with the rental? :)"

  • Relaxing Cabin on a Beautiful Lake!

"I spent the weekend at the Sugar Lake cabin with a group of friends over the 4th of July weekend. We had an awesome time! The lake was absolutely beautiful and we loved floating around in the shallow, clear water. The cabin is right on the lake and has a great yard for games, camp fires, etc...We even had a great view of the fire work display at the resort across the lake. It is so quiet and peaceful there and we loved seeing and hearing all the loons. The neighbors were friendly too! The cabin was spacious and fully stocked with everything we needed. Barb was very responsive and quick to answer all my questions prior to our stay. I would love to come back and stay at Sugar Lake again in the future."

  • Gorgeous cabin with breathtaking views of beautiful Pokegama Lake! Best part of our summer!

"We had an absolutely amazing time at this cabin! The setting is absolutely perfect! Huge yard, great little beach and an excellent location on Pokegama Lake, straight across from the golf course and Nesbit/Drumbeater Islands. The cabin was spacious, very clean, and neatly decorated. The owners met us at the property and showed us around. They were so nice and welcoming! I lived in Grand Rapids for some time and have visited several times since, but this was by far my most enjoyable experience there. So much to do and see in the area. I highly recommend this property for your next family vacation or getaway!"

  • Perfect large family vacation

"My folks took the whole family (25 of us) to this awesome place!! With 12 adults and 13 grown children we rented all three cabins and had plenty of room for all of us. We were all together but had our space. Dan was there when we arrived and showed us around. The lake was perfect with 2 restaurant/bars and the golf course! The deck and beach area were great for hanging out and playing yard games. The main reason why we choose this resort - there is no actual steps from the cabins to the dock - all grass and a short distance! This made it great for my dad, who has a hard time getting around. It worked perfectly for him. We could not have asked for any better place. Thank you Dan for a wonderful vacation. I have a feeling we will be seeing you in the future! Thank you!"
