  • Incredible Setting for our Wedding

"Dale and Susie created a masterpiece in the Overholser Lodge. The attention to detail is evident everywhere you look. We hosted our wedding here and also used the guest house for additional accommodations. We used the extensive landscaping in the front yard along with the covered entrance as a backdrop for many photos. Our ceremony, live music and seating for dinners was in the backyard. We rented a pontoon and used the dock system to explore the lake (even caught a few fish off the dock!). The movie theater was a big bonus for showing a video and the kids watching a movie. The caterers out of Walker (Green Scene) were recommended by Susie and were fantastic. We couldn't have found better hosts and setting for this very special weekend. 5 stars all around!"

  • Perfect for any group!

"Jeff was very responsive and easy to work with. The home itself can't be beat! We were there for a girls getaway and what makes this property hands down better than the rest was the number of beds! Who wants to go on vac and have to share a bed and get a crappy night sleep? Not me! There were more than enough beds and space to get away when needed. We loved the big spacious kitchen (fully stocked with all pots/pans/crock pots we needed) and dining area, the awesome views from the living room, ample parking, and no shortage of bathrooms. We were there in Nov but got a little nice weather to enjoy the screen porch and backyard. We also had a great time in the game room and loved the surround sound wired through the home. We liked it so much that we've already booked another trip!"

  • Cabin On The Commons - Lake Melissa

"We really enjoyed our time at Cabin on the Commons - it was a cute and cozy cabin for our family to hang out during the busy holiday week. Beds were very comfortable, kitchen was well equipped and the property was kept up well. We used this as an extra sleeping cabin for extra family while visiting Lake Melissa and ended up hanging out here most of the time. Jane was great to work with ... Very responsive, detail oriented and a pleasure to work with."

  • Small Older Cabin but makes up for it with location and extras

"My family and I really enjoyed our stay! The cabin is located among a few other cabins, this is the smallest cabin. The Good: The location! It's nice to find a place so close to lake access. The owner provided kayaks, paddle boat and row boats, which is a big plus. There are multiple docks to fish off from. There is a small gradual beach perfect for kids (not to many weeds for the first 10 feet or so). The owners of the resort are nice people and fun to chat with. The cabin was supplied with most things a kitchen needs, silverware, dishes, pots, pans, mugs, glassware, coffeemaker, microwave, etc. The Cabin: The cabin is older, built in the 40's but updated at some point. Everything works fine; hot water, water pressure is good, plenty of lighting, and window AC. There is a TV and wifi too. The inside isn't anything exciting but it has the charm of an campground you might have gone to when a kid. The Cabin layout: The cabin has a living room\kitchen\dinning nook and separated bedroom. The bathroom is connected the bedroom, something you should consider: "Will it be OK with you for others in your party to walk through the bedroom at night or during the day?" Also the bathroom did not have a door, only a curtain, so there is a little concern with privacy and (ehmmm) noises from the bathroom. We managed OK because we had small children and we used the bedroom door for privacy, but not sure how I would feel using the bathroom with a friend sleeping in the room just beyond a curtain. (Like I said we managed because we were a family with small kids, but I just though others may want to know before things get awkward ) We liked our stay and plan to be back again this year."
