  • Beautiful Wedding Location

"Donna was fantastic from the time I first contacted her about the property online. When we went out to see it, I knew it would be the perfect place for my wedding. I spent a year and a half thinking about how things would be set up there and dreaming about that day. When the big day came, it was everything I hoped for. My family and close friends were able to stay at the house for the weekend. We had our own lake. ( I even canoed in my dress for wedding photos!) The pool was great for those who stayed in the house. We released butterflies at the wedding since it was outdoors, and staying there for the whole weekend allowed me to see my butterflies hang around for the next couple days. Family and friends could relax and spend time together instead of the normal one night wedding rush. The house and property could not have been more beautiful and we were able to have 60 guests easily for the wedding day. Donna was patient and accommodating with all the questions that go into planning a big event and coordinating all the vendors (hair, caterer, and photographers) to come to the site. It was much more reasonable than renting a hall because we were not stuck with one choice of caterer. Shopping around for the best quality service saved money and gave me more choices on the food that I wanted. People were able to serve themselves with drinks that we provided, and so we saved money by preventing a bar service fee. I got a whole weekend to remember for less than the cost of most one day events in a hall. Thanks to Donna for making my big day everything I wanted it to be!"

  • Perfect

"Perfect house ... Cozy and charming for our family. We did the zoo, cardinals game, city museum and arch. Loved staying out of the city in the st Charles area. Walked right behind the house to the cobble stone historic district to shop and eat. Great bedding and fresh flowers. Snacks and drinks went over over well with my teenagers!! Thanks"

  • First home we rented two years in a row! Excellent Vacation Home!

"We loved the Serenity Home! It is SO well stocked with all those things that the owners seem to realize vacationers need. The kitchen is well stocked and even includes lots of spices and a nice welcome basket. All the details like dish soap, toilet paper etc. make it so much simpler and are so appreciated. The red room remodel is a GREAT improvement over last year. The bed and pillow were heavenly - so comfortable. We don't like the steep driveway but after a few runs we got used to it:) Drive to the sand beach/pool area!! SUCH a nice place to enjoy a beautiful day. We love the big table and the great basement with SO many games. What an entertainment haven! The screen porch and the two porches outside are all SO lovely - just a beautiful place to relax for happy hour or morning coffee. We love it. My only suggestions are to have instructions in each bedroom for the remotes since some of us are remote-challenged. Secondly, hooks on the doors in the red bedroom bathroom would be helpful. That's ALL I CAN THINK OF - ha. That's how well accommodated this place is. I would recommend this to any vacationers. It is a bit remote but if you're looking for a place to go and relax, this is a good one! We'll be back another year. Thank you - we have enjoyed our weeks there very much."

  • Worked great for family reunion, but needs some TLC.

"This beautiful home housed fourteen of us very comfortably for a family reunion. It has a fully equipped kitchen, which was great, and a large screened in porch, which we used two nights until it got too hot. We were able to all sit around the dining room table and talk the third night. It has two separate living areas on the first floor and a family room in the basement, plus five bedrooms, so we didn't feel crowded at all. The owner is super responsive and we all had a very nice stay. Now the cons; as another reviewer wrote, the place needs some attention. There are blinds that don't work, the master bedroom bathroom double door doesn't fully close, the coffee maker didn't work (over-flowed twice), there were stains on some of the towels, and the throw rugs in the bathroom looked like they needed a good washing. Other visitors have left spices, and other non perishable food items in the kitchen, and as some are expired, the kitchen really needs a good "going-through" with some items needing to be tossed. Overall, the place is clean, but it could use a really thorough cleaning, and some maintenance from all the wear and tear it takes as a rental. The location is a bit tricky to find and the house sits at the bottom of a very steep lane, so might be tough to get to in bad winter weather. Surrounded by trees, though, it is very private and pretty. It's about 30 minutes from St. Louis. All in all, I would recommend this place. It worked out great for us and we enjoyed our stay."
