  • Family and Friends Summer Gathering!

"Our family gathered with friends this summer at Spoon Lake Camp. We loved this place and were sad to leave. Where to start? The lake itself is really magical. It is so fun for swimming and boating and also really quiet and open. Early mornings are a wonderful time to watch birds. It is really a special place where you can experience amazing natural beauty and comfort at the same time. The main house and the cabins are so nicely done. The rooms are comfortable and clean. There are so many wonderful details that make this place both restful and convenient. I was amazed at how all the kids and adults had space to be together and also room for rest and quiet. The owners have truly created a space that is really modern, clean, and spacious, but also warm and welcoming. We also loved how close it was to Glacier National Park. It is such a great place for families. We really appreciate all the thought and care that make this place comfortable, fun, and so very beautiful."

  • Excellent experience despite the rain!

"We came together from the individual places where our adult children have settled, for the first family vacation since they left home. We had hoped to spend our time exploring Glacier National Park. But, the weather did not cooperate and we spent half of the time at this home. We had children from15 months to 12 years of age. Most were under 5. Quite a little Wolf Pack. But, the house was completely stocked with everything that we needed! The refridgerator is huge and we all want one now! There are toys and games for every age group. They even supplied the movie we had talked about from the kids childhood! Our kids grew up around a fire pit, and it was just awesome to share fires with the littles! Kristine and Dave were so wonderful to work with and we would not hesitate to book from them again! This house is just perfect for a family reunion! Thanks so much for sharing your home with us and providing such a warm and loving environment for us to be a family again!"

  • Our Favorite Place Away From Home

"Our family of 4 (2 girls 10 and 11) absolutely loved our stay at the Ober's. The cabin was just the right size for us and the scenery just doesn't get any better. We woke early every day to watch deer, elk, and eagles along the river's edge. With an early breakfast we then headed to the park. The cabin is more secluded than many cabins we investigated which was a plus. While there are neighbors nearby we hardly saw them. When we did meet our neighbor we had a great visit about the park and the region. Everything about our stay was fantastic and we cannot wait to come back. We do have a few suggestions for anyone choosing to visit. 1. Vist the cabin before getting groceries. We made the mistake of buying too many items that were already stocked at the cabin (sugar, coffee, etc..) The grocery store isn't far away so making a second trip in won't take long. 2. Start early. We arrived at the park before 7:30 most days except one. One morning we slept in and got to the park at 9:00. We waited in line to get into the park and everywhere else. 3. Be sure and read the book by Mr. Ober about the park. Being a history teacher I loved reading a little of his book daily. You already feel like you are stepping out of time when you visit Glacier. His book made the trip even more mystical. 4. You probably want to bring an SUV to the cabin as the road to the cabin had standing water at times. Not bad but it wouldn't hurt. We absolutely loved our stay! The cabin had all the comforts of home and even more. We cannot wait to come back."

  • Great cabin and hosts, but loud train!

"Good: The cabin is just like the pictures and was great for our visit to glacier national park. It was close enough that full day hikes were doable, even when we planned for hikes on the other side of the park in Many Glacier. Hiking from Apgar or Logan pass was easily doable and we got to sleep in a little since it was so close! The cabin is located near a great butcher shop, and the grill on the back deck was convenient for grilling steaks. The cabin had great amenities like coffee, oil and spices for cooking, washer and dryer, and a comfy couch and bed. Less than good (but we still highly recommend this place!): The neighborhood is a little strange, in that theres a mix of older, less well kept properties, but the cabin itself was lovely and we never had a problem with the neighborhood. The cabin does face the railroad tracks, and a train goes by frequently and loudly. Even with the heavy curtains closed, and windows shut, there's no way you won't hear it every two hours. It shakes the bed in the loft upstairs. Some days it went by less frequently but our first night was interrupted a lot, even with ear plugs (which they provide). Since this was in the rental description, we weren't upset. While the train is way too loud to ever become white noise, we were tired enough from hiking that it didn't ruin our rest for early morning hiking. The spiral staircase is very pretty, but can be tough on taller folks and those sore from hiking. Not a big deal, unless you're traveling with elderly who may want to stay on the sleeper sofa downstairs. The wifi is also slow and disconnects regularly -- I never mentioned this to the hosts, so this may not be normal. It was not a necessity since we weren't online much, and it worked long enough to access trail maps and trail status updates. We couldn't access watch anything on Netflix due to the internet speed, but we weren't upset about it because it worked for our needs. Overall: Great place to stay and the hosts really do think about providing basics you might need. I recommend it to anyone visiting Glacier National Park, but I would tell them about the noise in case they are sensitive to being woken up. I would love to visit again in the future!"
