  • Living in History

"WOW!! What an experience! Once you step into the Essex Mountain House one can feel the love and labor that Todd gave this historical structure. The house was very clean and perfect for 4 seniors from South Georgia. The upstairs bedroom had a big comfortable bed and with open windows, you could hear and feel the cool wind rustling thru the trees. We only had two nights here but it restored our strength and renewed our love of the "good old days". Can't wait to return!!Todd was great to work with and wasn't upset with our 10PM arrival!! Many thanks Todd!!"

  • Cute cottage with large yard - perfect for families

"We stayed here for 1 night while touring 2 medicine, though it was more like a day and a half since I called ahead and Marty the property manager said we could check in early since he'd finished cleaning by 12pm, which was a nice surprise. Check in time technically 4pm, I think. We have 3 young kids and Colleen was very easy to work with and very kind to our somewhat noisy crew. The cottage is just as cute as pictured, in a secondary street off the Main Street in East Glacier, with a large, fully fenced grassy yard. The yard is shared with the main house (which Colleen, the owner, happened to be staying in while we were there). We're stayed in many VRBOs before, and this one had the most fully stocked home we've ever stayed in. Small things that just made my day, like finding there were ziplock bags for packing lunches, aluminum foil, seasonings in pantry, laundry detergent for washer/dryer (not in unit but in garage which is off the yard and which we were told we could use 24/7 if needed), bins in loft with kids toys (Legos and duplo Legos, separated), yard toys like soccer balls, croquet set, volleyball net and bikes. Checking in and out was very easy. Some places will ask that you complete a cleaning list on the day you leave; I called Marty to check and he said 'Don't worry about a thing, we're not one of those places!' My only regret is that we couldn't have stayed longer - we moved to west glacier and were disappointed after staying here. 10 mins to 2 Medicine parking lot, 5 min or less from Glacier Lodge, which is cool as a historic lodge but way overpriced for dinner. Only thing is if privacy is important to you, the front yard is shared with main house, though there is a smaller private back deck with hammock and chairs. Oh, and a curtain on window of front door would be nice as front yard does look straight in to cottage (in case you happen to be running after your kids in your underwear and a group of people happen to be getting bikes out of the shed out front). Would definitely recommend the cottage and we would stay here again for longer next time."

  • Top Tier Family Vacation

"Our family of 5 (Kids age 16, 12, 10) stayed at Gary and Theresa's cabin this past week for 6 nights. My review would follow along the lines of the other reviews that I have read. We did a lot of research before we headed to Glacier. A lot... When I looked at this cabin online, it looked beautiful but I worried that having the owners on site would take away from the family get away we were looking for. However, I was DEAD wrong. Sure the cabin is great. Absolutely the cleanest VRBO, Hotel, Resort, I have ever stayed in. It is well stocked and almost like having your own place in Montana. While the cabin is great, what truly made the experience unforgettable was Gary and Theresa. They are the most friendly, and welcoming couple we maybe have ever met. They made us feel like family. Our family agreed that the trip to Glacier was a "10" but much of that was simply the love that was shown to us by this wonderful couple. I would go back to Glacier just to hang out with them! If you are looking for an amazing vacation. Beautiful scenery, beautiful cabin, and the chance to meet two of the most amazing hosts you will ever find, you need to book this cabin. We talked on the drive home how this was a once in a lifetime experience. My son said, "It better not be, I vote to go back again next year", while my youngest wanted to know if we could have Gary and Theresa stay with us in Iowa sometime..."
