  • Great place to stay!

"We came up for a week to stay at Glacier National Park. We had 8 people (4 adults and 4 kids), and some additional relatives joined us for part of the stay, renting out the smaller part of the house as well. We have stayed at multiple properties through VRBO over the years, and this was the best maintained property we have stayed with. Everything was in good shape, clean, and worked well. The bed in the master bedroom was so comfortable! We had plenty of space and the boys enjoyed the bunk bed room (complete with a basket of wooden blocks). The house was quiet, the property is surrounded by woods and there is no appreciable road noise (there is an occasional train, and though I could hear it, it was not loud enough to be bothersome). The kitchen is small but we cooked a full dinner for 52 people in it one night without a problem, and the dining table fits quite a few around. The patio and deck areas provide good outdoor seating as well. There was plenty of space, so everyone could find somewhere to have some quiet time when they needed it. The house is 10-15 minutes from West Glacier, it was an easy drive and our host provided directions to the park from the house. Columbia Falls is 15 minutes away if you need a grocery store. The property is also about 5 minutes from the middle fork of the flathead river, which you will pass over on your way to Glacier. It is very cold water! but people do rafting/canoeing and swimming there (we found Lake McDonald in Glacier Park had warmer water). Overall I would definitely recommend this property if you have plans in Glacier National Park, or the surrounding area."

  • Awesome Beyond Belief

"Let's start with the view; EXCEPTIONAL! You are located on the river bank with much privacy, the river is crystal clear and flowing. The rocks that line the river are gorgeous and colorful. You have views of the mountains on three sides from the back deck. We hung a portable hammock in the trees after a long hike and took a nap while listening to the river rush by. The home is clean, spacious and very well stocked, there was nothing we felt we were missing being away from home. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of towels. The washer and dryer came in handy after a few long days hiking. This home's location was perfect for us as we did not want to stay in the park but close enough for a quick drive to the West Entrance. We drove into Columbia Falls for groceries on the evening of our arrival, but we could have easily picked up groceries right down the street in Hungry Horse. We traveled by Amtrak from Chicago to West Glacier where we rented a car from Hertz. Since our train arrived later, our car was in the parking lot with the keys in the glove box waiting for us, no attendant to deal with, just a phone call the following day. The same happened in return when we left by train, we simply left the car in the parking lot. If you use a personal guide, ask for Jeremy Covert with Montana Raft Co. He is excellent, knowledgeable and full of history on the park. Finally, a shout out to the homeowner, Darlene who was very easy to deal with and who had open communications during the whole booking process and then some. Thank you! Also, during our stay, Darlene had a telescope setup in the home focused on a bald eagles nest where I became attached to watching "Bob & Kevin" , the named juvenile eagles perched in their nest across the river. It was a treat to watch them every day. I was so hoping they would begin their first flight while there, but I guess they simply weren't ready. You won't be disappointed with this lovely home, enjoy Glacier National Park, its magnificent!"

  • Love the location!!

"This was a very nice home. There is a wall of windows facing the lake. All the kids loved the loft and it has a private balcony. It was stocked with toilet paper, paper towels, everything we needed except food:) We cooked almost every meal there (thank you Costco) and found everything we needed. On the deck, there is a covered area that worked great for shade and one evening when it was raining. The deck is big and has two jet ski lifts and a boat lift and even has lights if you need them in the evening. The wood was replenished while we were there by the house manager. He had actually built the house and several of the docks around us including ours. He visited with us about the area and houses he had built around us, super nice guy. The neighbors on both sides were friendly and we enjoyed visiting with them. The yard was big and green and well maintained. The orchard had apples and cherries and was a great spot for taking pictures. The washer and dryer was new and I think a bigger size, super handy. The house was located in a beautiful, scenic area. While we were there, we went to a brewery in Lakeside that had great food and as an added bonus kids were free that day (Monday). We also rented a pontoon and drove it around Wild Horse Island, we saw a lot of wildlife but no horses:( It would be a great place to hike but with the little ones we couldn't."
