  • Great place, we loved it!

"We stayed here recently and had a wonderful time. The property was very clean and well maintained. We enjoyed hiking, canoeing, and had some nice drives. It was definitely home away from home. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a low key relaxing vacation. Sincerely, Phil & Jen M."

  • Absolutely Spectacular!

"My husband and I stayed at the mountain house for three nights in February. It was a last minute decision to get away, and Kevin (the owner) and Lou (the caretaker) were great to work with. The transaction was handled quickly and seamlessly. We called Lou when we were getting close to the address, and he met us there. It was awesome to have someone introduce us to the house in person. Everything you could possibly want or need was there! Dry firewood and kindling, blankets and quilts, lots of pillows, books and magazines, games and puzzles, area information, wifi, flashlights and candles if needed, paper products, laundry detergent and ALL of the kitchen necessities... The house was clean, well-maintained, nicely decorated, cozy and comfortable. There is the driveway... We live in New Hampshire and of course read the reviews, so we were totally prepared. It has been such a mild winter that the surface of the driveway was mostly clear. We had absolutely no problem in our AWD SUV, but it did kind of take our breath away! We know from experience, though, that you have to go UP to get those kinds of views. Those views, whether from the house, deck, screened porch or even the driveway, were absolutely spectacular! Over 180 degrees of mountaintops, and the scenes change with the time of day and the weather. We had some clouds and the peaks disappeared, then it snowed and covered everything in a fresh blanket of white and the mountains reappeared. Sunsets were amazing; everything turned pink! We went mainly for the peace and quiet. We wanted to unplug and unwind, and that's exactly what we did! In front of the ENORMOUS fireplace was our favorite spot when the mountains were hiding or it was dark. The house has radiant floor heating, so even though we had one single digit night, we were walking around in our bare feet. It was so private, quiet and still we were thrilled. The entire area is wild and beautiful. We saw the tracks of 5 or 6 different kinds of animals, and one evening when we switched on the outdoor spotlight to watch it snow, a family of raccoons looked in at us kind of annoyed that we disturbed them! Late one morning we saw a bald eagle; breathtakingly beautiful! We definitely recommend the property and will be returning ourselves to this mountaintop treasure. Thanks for sharing, Kevin, and thanks for helping us out, Lou!"

  • Comfortable, spacious, beautiful location

"We had a great week here. The house is right on the water and has a fabulous view. The garden is a particular plus. Well kept and looked after; it is a wonderful place to relax. The fire pit is great in the evenings and the hammock and terrace are excellent lounging spots. The house is spacious and well appointed with kitchen equipment - for a house which is clearly designed for vacation rental rather than as a family home or home away from home. With that in mind it could be improved somewhat. The house is constructed very basically, and the floor even slopes a little. A kayak or two would be wonderful to take advantage of the lake. The rowing boat provided is awkward to get around in and consequently wasn't used very much. Some basic fishing equipment would have been fun for overseas visitors like us who could not bring their own. A flashlight and candles would have been useful for the two occasions during our week when there was a power outage. It was noticeably quieter during the week than at the weekend when some of the nearby camps around the lake can become a bit noisy, and noise really travels far across the water. However these were all minor points and overall we had a great stay here. Thanks!"
