  • A perfect vacation spot!

"We've stayed at this lakehouse 2 years in a row, for two weeks each time. The house is immaculate but comfortable, and very well appointed. The lakefront property is gorgeous, and the owners were always very responsive. They live nearby and were there to greet us upon our arrival. They clearly love this place and great care is taken to make guests as comfortable as possible. There is one master bedroom, with the other set up with 4 bunk beds and a foldout couch, with plenty of bed linens and towels. The hot outdoor shower is great! Internet is a little erratic but serviceable. If you wish to watch tv be sure to bring an internet accessible device with HDMI input. There is, however a DVD player, and Redbox not far away at the grocery store. The house is very convenient to groceries, pharmacy, liquor and hardware stores. It's also an easy drive to the seacoast. The lake is very quiet in the mornings and evenings, with some boat traffic in the afternoons. Nights are quiet, making it possible to fall asleep to the sound of gentle waves on the beach, and if you're lucky, the cry of the loons. We can't say enough about this little piece of paradise!"

  • Couldn't ask for better!

"The house and scenery were magnificent! My wife, my 3 daughters, and I had a great week escaping the southeastern heat and absolutely hated having to leave. Mary Ann and Ken were kind, gracious hosts and super helpful with all of my questions. We spent time swimming, kayaking, and fishing and loved the sounds of the loons. We were planning a different vacation next year, but had such an amazing time we're probably coming back!"

  • Adorable lake house!

"I fell in love with this adorable lake house! It is even better in person. Four of us stayed at the house for a week and wished we could stay longer. The kayaks are in a great location and so easy to hop right into the water; we used them multiple times each day! We spent lots of time lounging on the dock, fishing and just enjoying the scenery. The house is cozy - our friends that stayed up in the loft bumped their heads a few times, but that wasn't a big deal. Waking up in this house is magical: many of the windows face east, so the whole house lights up in the morning with the sun reflecting off the water. The little nook off the dining area was a favorite spot for morning reading and afternoon naps. As other reviewers have mentioned, there are a lot of stairs to get to the house, so pack accordingly! The kitchen was well-equipped and we used the grill almost nightly. Stephan was very responsive and helpful throughout the booking and check-in process. We hope to come back again next year!"

  • Private, Quiet Maine Vacation

"Coming to Maine, my husband and I were lured there by the thought of temps in the 70s with ocean breezes, lobster rolls and a quaint town. All of this happened except for the temps. The weather was horridly hot which caused us to spend most of our time in our apartment. Here is what we found: A clean and bright apartment consisting of five rooms and a balcony. The apartment has private entrance and exit, which affords TONS of privacy. The balcony was perfect size which afforded us an OUTSTANDING view of the US Navy Shipyard and all of their happenings. The grounds have gorgeous gardens. There was also an arrangement waiting for us when we arrived as a welcome. The kitchen is very airy and bright and ideal for food prep. We were very thankful to find AC for the Kitchen and for the Master Bedroom alone. It was much needed during the hot days. There is also WiFi available for the kitchen area. Having a car is crucial. We thought we could do without one...but Kittery does not have a grocers (for the essentials) Close by is a farmstand. Ned was so kind to lend us his car and one of the days we took him up on that. As far as food goes we enjoyed ALL of the following that are ALL within a short block of the apartment: Rudders Public House: Continental-Gastropub Lil's Cafe: Organic baked goods, sandwiches, coffee. Maine Squeeze: Juices and smoothies. AJ's Wood Fire Pizza: Thinnish pies with great flavor combos and salads. Each of these we visited multiple times. The decor is a few steps up from the imagined "harbor-unfinished-chic." Ned and Shannon thought of everything. They even let us tag along for lunch with friends traveling by their boat. The one thing I will take away is the quiet solitude and the bedroom community enclaviness of Kittery."
