  • Exactly what we were looking for

"Great place in a beautiful location. We went with four kids aged 5 to 13 and everyone had af great time. Condo is in private setting off the road, so the kids could take off on their bikes without the parents worrying about them getting lost. There's a really nice pool area with an amazing view of the lake and white mountains in the backdrop. There's also a cute little beach. Plus a very nice tennis courts just a cross from unit. The grounds were extremely well maintained and clean. The unit itself was exactly as expected with a limited but beautiful view of the lake, adequate amount of bedding, appliances, cookware, etc., with 2 beds plus a loft that has two twin beds, 1&1/2 baths, I can't speak for the tv package as we never watched it - like to get away from all of that when away. That said, we did appreciate that there were plenty of kids movies for them to watch before bed. Overall great package at a great price - we will be back."

  • Best place to stay in Alton Bay

"Our family of 4 booked this beautiful home way back in the winter and we thought all spring and summer about our week at Alton Bay. When it finally arrived we had a great week of weather and the house was incredible. Very roomy and well equipped, the only thing we should have brought were our pillows as the down pillows seemed flat. The multiple decks, ah the decks-I can't say how many hours I sat out there, and 3 kayaks were used everyday even though we rented a 23' pontoon boat for the week, which fit nicely at the dock. We had company several days and the most in the house on one day was 11 and the house as large as it is still never felt cramped or congested. My husband fell in love with the wooden sculpture high up on the living room wall, he wants to know where you got it. We only turned the TV's on 2 nights (one night to watch the Patriots' play :)) and Tuesday the only day it rained a bit. We used the gas grill several evenings to cook and 1 night we even used the gas fire to ward off a chill in the evening air. We played games and 45's every night, we brought our own. All the games in the home seemed like they were missing a piece or a card- it would be nice if guests treated the game area with care. Mount Major is just 1.5miles up the road and a great hike and incredible views from the top. We went to Shibley's for lunch and Pop's Clam Shell for dinner, both great spots to eat. This is a tremendous house in a tranquil cove. We truly enjoyed this very relaxing week and thank Brian and his family for opening up their doors to their well crafted home."

  • Perfectly situated on a quiet, beautiful island.

"16 Whortleberry is comfy and spacious with just the right amount of accoutrements: Wifi, A/C, washer/dryer if needed, movies, and a local tv station for news (if you even want to know...). The kitchen had everything we needed to make our meals, including a Whortleberry pie for dessert! Not a fancy kitchen, but who wants to spend time in there with the loons calling right in front of you! The front porch is perfect, but needs some nice Adirondack chairs our some cushioned, comfy furniture for lounging and curling up with your favorite book. We didn't use the boats, kayaks and a canoes available, as we have a pleasure craft and explored the lake with it. If you follow the lake path tucked behind the canoe, there's a footbridge and a perfect little sandy beach with enough room for your beach chair and your feet soaking in the warm July water. Would we go back? We're already talking about next year. A resounding yes from humans and canine alike."
