  • Best place to stay in Alton Bay

"Our family of 4 booked this beautiful home way back in the winter and we thought all spring and summer about our week at Alton Bay. When it finally arrived we had a great week of weather and the house was incredible. Very roomy and well equipped, the only thing we should have brought were our pillows as the down pillows seemed flat. The multiple decks, ah the decks-I can't say how many hours I sat out there, and 3 kayaks were used everyday even though we rented a 23' pontoon boat for the week, which fit nicely at the dock. We had company several days and the most in the house on one day was 11 and the house as large as it is still never felt cramped or congested. My husband fell in love with the wooden sculpture high up on the living room wall, he wants to know where you got it. We only turned the TV's on 2 nights (one night to watch the Patriots' play :)) and Tuesday the only day it rained a bit. We used the gas grill several evenings to cook and 1 night we even used the gas fire to ward off a chill in the evening air. We played games and 45's every night, we brought our own. All the games in the home seemed like they were missing a piece or a card- it would be nice if guests treated the game area with care. Mount Major is just 1.5miles up the road and a great hike and incredible views from the top. We went to Shibley's for lunch and Pop's Clam Shell for dinner, both great spots to eat. This is a tremendous house in a tranquil cove. We truly enjoyed this very relaxing week and thank Brian and his family for opening up their doors to their well crafted home."

  • Couldn't ask for better!

"The house and scenery were magnificent! My wife, my 3 daughters, and I had a great week escaping the southeastern heat and absolutely hated having to leave. Mary Ann and Ken were kind, gracious hosts and super helpful with all of my questions. We spent time swimming, kayaking, and fishing and loved the sounds of the loons. We were planning a different vacation next year, but had such an amazing time we're probably coming back!"

"the Sugdens cottage are fantastic . The view of the lake and the water is special. We stayed in the first cottage and it was very clean . They added a new dinning table and we cook inside and out on the gas grill a lot when we stay there so that was a plus when we had our family eat inside. We also set a table on the huge dock and have dinner on the Lake. Jack Sugden is more accommodating and was always available if we needed anything. I really enjoy my stay there . The night they had a comic shower we lay down on their comfortable lounge chairs and watch the show from the dock. I kayak a lot while I was there and enjoyed going up the I really enjoyed my stay at the Sugden's cottages. Jack Sugden was very accommodating. The view of the lake and the mountains are fantastic. I enjoy the lake and kayaking up the Fowler river. The gas grill by the dock, dinning on the dock and watching the meteor shower from the dock was special. We will return next year"

  • Outstanding!

"We gathered our whole family for a week. There were 8 kids ranging in age from 18-10 along with 7 adults. We had a wonderful time. The house was spotless when we arrived. The kitchen was filled with everything we needed. It was centrally located to everything we wanted to do. Donna was wonderful and quickly answered all of our questions before we arrived."
