  • Great Holiday on Lake Winnipesaukee New Hampshire

"The property was exactly as described by the owners and Josie was quick to answer all queries to our satisfaction. It was clean and well-appointed. We had a comfortable bed, and plenty of space in the living areas and bedroom. All the appliances worked well and we cooked in the condo for most of our meals. As a dog owner, I appreciated the many grassy areas on the grounds of the condo complex and the fact that everyone kept their dog messes cleaned up. We met many of the condo residents while walking our dog and everyone was friendly. The view from the master bedroom of the bay is great, and we saw some pretty sunsets almost every night from the deck. We liked being in Laconia as it was centrally located with close-by restaurants and stores, plus there's less traffic than either Wolfeboro or Meredith. For dog owners, there's a doggie day care called Four Paws Inn that's convenient for those days when your activities can't include your dog. Our activities included boating on wonderful Lake Winnipesaukee, hiking, visiting tourist sites and looking at covered bridges. We ate at T-Bone Tom (good prime rib), Patrick's (music and light meals), and Lyons Den. All were good experiences and reasonably priced. We would recommend this property."

  • Authentic Squam Lake Camp Lodge and Schoolhouse

"Penowee is one of the original, authentic Squam Lake camps built around the turn of the century. Since it was constructed as a summer camp for a private school, the main lodge is located directly on Big Squam waterfront, literally ten feet from the lake. In addition to the main lodge, which has three bedrooms, a large living room, a kitchen, bathroom and a beautiful front porch, the property also includes a schoolhouse with many bedrooms upstairs (including a full bathroom with shower) and a large game room downstairs, which is perfect for guests and for teenage kids who enjoy having their own space, etc. Given its age, Penowee is in very good condition, and while rustic, it is very comfortable and includes all of the basic amenities for a summer stay on the lake. The owners are very helpful and there is a caretaker for the property who is readily available in case of any issues. The setting is pretty private, on a very nice cove for swimming, fishing, and other water sports. The location is close enough to town to be convenient, and far enough away to be a bit out in the woods, with full sun during most of the day. The property is set back enough to be shady on a warm summer day and we spent a great deal of time on the amazing porch for meals and family time together. The main house and schoolhouse can accommodate a large group or family easily and is perfect for a family reunion or family vacation with the kids and grandparents. This property is also dog friendly, and we were able to bring our dogs, which was a great plus and a rare thing on Squam, where many properties are not pet friendly. The kitchen includes all of the basic amenities, wide variety of cooking gear, and the largest frying pan you will ever see. There are two bathrooms in the property, including one in the main house and one in the schoolhouse that includes a shower--hot water was plentiful and there is also a washer/dryer. The dock out front is great and very convenient for swimming, sunning, or just reading or chilling by the water. There is a float with at diving ladder as well, and we docked our rental motorboat there with no issues. Fishing on the cove is very good and kids can catch fish from the dock. The owners were a pleasure to deal with. Good place to go for a real On Golden Pond experience where you can disconnect from the real world and really take advantage of what Squam Lake has to offer. We enjoyed our week long stay and hope to return."

  • Great for families!

"We had a WONDERFUL experience at "The Sandbar" in June of 2016. With three children under the age of 4, safety and cleanliness is key for us, and this house hit the mark. The house is beautifully decorated and very clean with comfortable furniture, nice bedding, and huge windows with a view of the lake from nearly every room. The kitchen is amazing, beautiful countertops, high end appliances and fully equipped with quality cookware and tons of dishes, utensils, cups, mugs, etc. The beach is fantastic and the water was so clear and clean, and shallow enough for little ones to play in without needing a life preserver on the entire time. Lots of toys and rafts available for our use, the whole family enjoyed outings in the paddle boat and even the little ones caught fish. We look forward to returning next year!"

  • Perfectly situated on a quiet, beautiful island.

"16 Whortleberry is comfy and spacious with just the right amount of accoutrements: Wifi, A/C, washer/dryer if needed, movies, and a local tv station for news (if you even want to know...). The kitchen had everything we needed to make our meals, including a Whortleberry pie for dessert! Not a fancy kitchen, but who wants to spend time in there with the loons calling right in front of you! The front porch is perfect, but needs some nice Adirondack chairs our some cushioned, comfy furniture for lounging and curling up with your favorite book. We didn't use the boats, kayaks and a canoes available, as we have a pleasure craft and explored the lake with it. If you follow the lake path tucked behind the canoe, there's a footbridge and a perfect little sandy beach with enough room for your beach chair and your feet soaking in the warm July water. Would we go back? We're already talking about next year. A resounding yes from humans and canine alike."
