  • A little slice of heaven!!

"First of all, Debbie & Mark are the NICEST people you'll ever meet! They greeted us upon arrival, gave us a tour of the house and grounds, and told us to let them know if we needed anything. Right after they greeted us, a mama duck and her 11 tiny ducklings showed up to greet us as well. There's a container of corn to feed them with, and they regularly came around for snacks throughout the day. It was such a joy to watch them! The house is very comfortable, with lots of seating, and the kitchen is well stocked. The king bed upstairs was like sleeping on a cloud, soooo comfy. The upstairs bathrooms are brand new and so cute. We had plenty of towels and paper products. The views are gorgeous, especially in the morning as the sun comes through the trees and shines on the lake. It was really nice to have use of the kayaks & boat, and my son did some catch & release fishing, which he loved. The house is full of interesting photos and history about the house. And as we also discovered, Debbie is quite the fisher woman, with some amazing catches to her credit :-) We hosted 2 family events, one of them with 24 people, so Mark kindly brought over some extra chairs for us to use. The weather was perfect that day and we all sat outside and had lunch at the picnic tables. We BBQ'd a few times, and cooked lobster one night. On Debbie's advice, we got the lobster from the Market Basket and all agreed that they were the sweetest, most tender lobster we've ever eaten. We ate at Fratello's, our favorite Italian restaurant, and I discovered the most delicious chicken pot pie I've ever had at the 99 restaurant. Although it was motorcycle week, most of the action was on the other side of the lake, so other than distant motorcycle noise, it was very quiet on our side. Debbie & Mark do indeed have a little piece of heaven right there on the lake and we thank them for sharing it with us. We had a wonderful time, and have already booked our trip for next year! I recommend, without hesitation, this lovely house and it's down to earth, very sweet owners, Debbie & Mark. Go and have fun!!!"

  • Enjoyable area to explore

"The studio was comfortable, clean and quiet. Cindi and Brett were great hosts-available if needed. They greeted us when we arrived and gave us some advice on dining and outdoor adventures and put the ac in the window which we needed one night. We rode our mountain bikes on the Sugar River Trial which was beautiful, but the trail had some sandy spots that made it very difficult to pedal. There were several ATV's on the trail also which was fine except when they came by and kicked up a lot of dust. We also did a 2-mile climb to the summit of Mt. Sunapee which was a great trail but difficult if you are not in decent shape. The view at the summit was beautiful. You could also take a ski lift to the top and walk down the mountain. The Adventure Park was also open with other cool stuff to try especially for families. The State Beach also rents kayaks/canoes for an hour or a half day starting Memorial Day weekend. Flying Goose had great nachos and my husband loved the beer brewed on site. They have a solar-powered brewery on site that we would have loved to have checked out but Brewer works weekdays only. Pizza at Bubba's was good - wood fired pizza oven. Grab a pizza to go and find a spot across the street overlooking the lake. Sanctuary Farm Ice Cream was delicious - fun place to hang out with kids. Animals to pet, etc. Mill Stone on Main St. had delicious food, drinks and excellent service. French Dip was delicious. Sunapee Harbor was quaint with shops and small restaurants. Preservation Center was worth a visit."

  • Lakeside Paradise

"With vacation rentals, you never truly know what you'll find until you get there-- this one is absolutely perfect. The pictures really don't do it justice. As soon as you get here it just feels like home. We left wishing it were our family retreat instead of just renting it. The lake is so beautiful-- we spent several hours every day swimming out to the platform, fishing, kayaking, and just enjoying the view. The screened in porch is a great spot for watching the sunset and just relaxing completely bug free. We hardly ever left the property other than to get groceries, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Just note that the AC unit in the bunk room is not quite as effective as I'd like-- it struggled to keep the temperature down to 78 with all the afternoon sun. Still, lovely house and we will be staying here again next year as long as circumstances allow!"

  • Laconia Bike Week

"We came across this property while looking for a place to stay during bike week that was not directly in the center of the "party." We had such a wonderful time staying at this rental! Jane and Bev were more than accommodating, the cottage was even more beautiful than we had imagined from the listing, and the drive to local amenities was easy. We are so thrilled with our stay that we plan on going back next year for the entire week rather than the four days we stayed this year! Thank you both again! ~Angela P.~"
