  • Pure Michigan up north vacation

"We just returned from our week at Beechmount. We loved it! It was very private and quiet. The deck was huge and a great place to read at the end of the day after going to the beach. There was plenty of room for the 4 of us to move around. The master bedroom was a good size and the bed was decent. Lots of dresser space. The upstairs is spacious and smells like cedar! The antiques were similar to some that I have and I felt that added to the ambiance. It felt like I was staying at a relative's place. The kitchen was adequate, not huge but had everything we needed to cook some meals. There was a Weber grill on the deck. The fire pit area was a few steps away from the house and was a large area which would fit a decent amount of people. It was nice to have a dog-friendly cottage, our dogs loved being able to walk around and sniff everything. Good area for walks and mountain biking. We had friends staying on Hamlin lake with boats, so they picked us up at the boat porch. We definitely drove to the boat porch, especially since we were carrying coolers, towels, etc... it was a 1-2 min drive from the house. Since the house was on a hill, it wasn't really convenient to walk there. But the porch was a good place to store floats, etc... Just FYI, most people don't swim at their waterfront locations because Hamlin lake is very sea weedy, especially at the edges/breakwalls. It is a great idea to have a boat or rent one (can be pricey), because you can get to a lot of locations on the lake and to the State Park. We spent a lot of time at the informal beach on the north side of the dunes. It was sandy-bottomed, so you could walk around. Lots of boats pulled up there or anchored and partied/tubed/walked dogs/walked on the dunes. Take in a few sunsets at Lake Michigan - so worth the view! The State Park was awesome! I wish we would have tubed down the river to Lake Michigan, it looked like fun! The town is really cool to walk around in, lots of great restaurants, cute shops. Our girls (22 and 15) definitely want to come back! By the way, they liked House of Flavors for ice cream vs. Kilwins... :-)"

  • Wonderful Stay

"We spent a week with my husband, 18 month old daughter, my brother, and my girlfriend and her boyfriend and 2 kids (10 and 12). We had such a blast! The house is walking distance to the private beach on the Saco, where we tubed and it was deep enough to swim a bit. It's also a short drive to many other swimming holes, and Diana's Bath, which is great for a short hike and some "water slides." Humphreys ledge is close by as well, where you can jump in. We spent time at Story Land too, right around the corner. It's a short ride into North Conway for all the local shops. My daughter had an amazing time. The house was clean, and there was plenty of room for all 8 of us to stretch out and relax while we were there. There were two full baths, which was great. There is AC upstairs, which worked great. It was nice to be able to cook while we were there so there wasn't the added cost of dining out. There were plenty of pots, pans, plates, bowls, etc and a dishwasher to make clean up easy. (Although we did have to go to Glen Junction at least once :) Best breakfast and right down the street!) The owners were very helpful, answering questions and emailing us in advance of our stay to let us know about little things. They were very responsive, and pleasant to do business with. We would stay here again in a heartbeat."

  • Wonderful Week

"My extended family and I spent the last week in June at this property. We all had a fabulous time! There was plenty of room for us to spread out during the day but yet come together for dinner every night. The lake water provided refreshing dips and access to the water was easy enough so my parents were able to enjoy the water (pack your water shoes if rocks bother your feet). All of the bedrooms and bathrooms were roomy and more then comfortable. My husband's hobby is cooking and the kitchen had every thing he needed. We always bring a few extra cooking implements when we use VRBO houses, but we didn't unpack any of our items for this house except for his knives and Kitchenaid mixer. The owner was very responsive when we were setting up the arrangements. The caretaker came over our first day to make sure everything was running smoothly. The house was immaculate and every appliance worked as it should. The house was close to town, where we enjoyed Rheinblick German Restaurant on our last night, shopped at Casa Italiana (Italian market and deli) and grabbed a pizza from Farro’s Pizzeria. We golfed in Naples, stop by Monica’s Pies (also located in Naples), enjoyed the store at Heron Hill Winery and walked upstream at Grimes Park to see the waterfalls. I expect to return next year and would recommend this home to any one visiting the area."
