  • Fantastic, fun, well-stocked lakefront house close to... well, you're not going to want to leave!

"Just got home from a week at Linda and Steve's place and I'm already regretting not booking it for two weeks. Our party of nine -- two couples with five kids -- had a total blast. I don't even know where to begin... Good thing I'm limited to 2700 characters. First of all, dealing with Linda was completely easy. We booked the house a few months in advance and between texting and email, it was cake locking things down. A few days before the trip, we went back and forth some more and she readily answered any and all of my questions. Met her and Steve at the house, we did a quick run-through of the place and off they went. The place is absolutely great. We've rented places all over -- villas in Tortola, houses in Vieques, Asheville, etc. -- and this was hands-down the best-stocked house I've ever stayed at. I cook and usually travel with an assortment of spices, but most of what I brought was here already. Their grill is great and gets to 700° in a flash. They've got All Clad pots (seriously!). It's a great house for kids. We brought five along (no, not all mine) and they all slept in a large bedroom with three beds and a sofa. They loved having some privacy and their own "secret hideout". The house is a little over an hour away from Portland, Maine, if you want to check out Allagash or some of the other great breweries and restaurants. It's about 45 minutes away from North Conway and some great White Mountains hiking. But truthfully... we were happiest just swimming off the dock, fishing, making fires and exploring in the kayak and canoe. There's so much to do at the house that it's pretty easy to get lazy and have a great time there. And there's a pool table, too. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but it's regulation size and it's *awesome*. Some fun/good restaurants nearby if you don't feel like manning the grill or shopping. We particularly liked Poor People's Pub in Wakefield and Jim's Wheelhouse up the road, which has about 40 pinball machines. Back to technicalities... the house was spotless when we got there. And when we were leaving, there was a crew of about 6 people heading in to undo the damage we did. So if cleanliness is your thing, don't sweat it. The beds were great. The lake is spring-fed, so you feel great when you get out and probably never need to take a shower. ;) I'm rambling, but it was an A+ week, the house was awesome and we'd go back in a heartbeat. Thanks Linda and Steve!"

  • Couldn't have been better!

"Just spent two nights at the free will farm and already thinking when we can go back. The owners are so nice and helpful. You're greeted with homemade bread and farm fresh eggs that are delicious. The house is very clean and has everything you need. Waking up with a view of roosters, ducks and cattle is something truly special and their two dogs couldn't be cuter. Highly recommend!"

  • We had a great time staying here with frinds!

"This was a great stay, with three families for the long weekend. Plenty of room for all. Family friendly, we will definitely consider returning. We enjoyed the proximity to all the North Conway activities, shopping and restaurants."
