  • Lovely home

"Brenda and Ben have a lovely home that is nicely laid out, furnished and stocked. Didn't feel like a rental. The rooms are all a good size and the furniture was good quality and comfortable. They have created an English-style garden so lots of flowers to enjoy and stunning views for miles. Loved watching the horses across the street wander about the field. There were 5 of us and we had additional family staying nearby and we were able to comfortably prepare and host a couple dinners for a total of 11 with all the appliances, cooking and dinnerware we could need. We were there in early July so there were mosquitos in the early morning and evening but the many windows and doors were well screened so we could avoid them without feeling closed in. The temperatures inside and out were great. It's a little bit of a drive into town (10-15min), especially when Taos is busy as the main street gets very slow but the Smith's and Albertson's were well stocked. The slightly closer Cid's just didn't have enough selection and was significantly more expensive. High Mesa cottage is only a couple miles from Arroyo Seco which has a mellow, artsy main street where you can get pottery and ice cream and we walked over or stopped on our way back from hiking a few times. We went to the 4th of July parade there which I can only describe as a hoot. The cottage is well located overall and it was pretty easy access from the house to some great hikes in the north east ski valley area (~20min), a little bit longer to some southern hikes and rafting (~45 min or an hour). There was also a well stocked outdoor store in Taos (Taos Mountain Outfitters) that was very helpful in replacing my husband's hiking boots and finding some shirts for my son. When back in the Taos area we would definitely come back to High Mesa Cottage."

  • long weekend in Taos

"We really enjoyed the house, nice and clean and well stocked. Private back yard and lots of prairie dogs to entertain during the day. Will stay again if it is available on our next trip to Taos."

  • Great dog friendly adobe in Arroyo Seco

"Rented Kitty's casita from Aug. 5th - 8th of this year. The pictures looked great and the actual rental, even better. The adobe casita sits on the back of Kitty's property and is very private. Large fenced in yard for our dogs, they loved it. The hot tub was a great way to chill and relax after a long day. The main level consists of the living area and kitchen with the bathroom around the side hallway where there is a large closet for hanging clothing as well as shelves. The stairs up to the bedroom area are rather steep, and the dogs did not want to venture up. The bedroom , which is a loft is very comfortable with plenty of storage in the dresser. The area surrounding the adobe is very quiet and peaceful. It is just a short 2 mile drive into Arroyo Seco, and Taos is just another easy 9 mile drive down the road. We thought we had made a mistake staying so far out of Taos, but it ended up being the main reason we will return again. Thank you Kitty for letting stay in your casita, we will be returning soon."

  • Spectacular Location, Charm, and Hosts

"My wife and I and my parents stayed for three nights over Presidents Day Weekend and greatly enjoyed our stay. We learned that Pat built the home by hand many years ago which adds to the wonderfully fun character of the entire property. The location was ideal for us with Taos Ski Valley located about 15 minutes from the front door and Taos Village located about 10 to 15 minutes the other direction. The Hot Tub under the stars was very relaxing after skiing all day and Carmen is a great chef who left us some delicious snacks and treats to enjoy daily. We will most definitely return. P.S. Pat Woodall is a well known local artist with a showroom in downtown Taos full of great art to take a look at. Ask anyone around town if they know Pat and the answer is almost always yes. Great folks."
