  • Great House, Great Location

"5 girl friends rented the Sunset House from October 1-8, 2016 and we loved the house. The twin bedded rooms were comfy - sheets and duvets were great. The closets were quite large and each bed had a nightstand and lamp. The master bedroom, bathroom and closet were huge! The kitchen was large with loads of storage and we got a lot of use out of the washer and dryer. We loved having the separate living room, media room, card room and dining area. 4 of us shared the second bath with little problem. The house was easy walking distance to all historic locations and close to bus stops as well. We only needed to car to get to grocery stores, the spa and to go out of town. We would definitely return to the Adobe Casita on Sunset."

  • Perfect for our family's first stay in Santa Fe

"The condo is larger than we imagined with sleeping quarters upstairs and lots of room downstairs. It was quite cold outside during our stay but the condo was very easy to keep warm and cozy. The unit is so nicely appointed it would be easy to just hang out in comfort but the Plaza beckoned and is within a very comfortable walking distance - even in the cold! Just perfect for what we wanted. Thank you so much, Rebecca!"

  • Wilderness experience with all the comforts of home!

"Our entire family of 9 stayed the entire week after Christmas. My wife and I plus our daughter & son-in-law, our son and daughter-in-law and our 3 grandsons, ages 4, 12 and 19 arrived the day after Christmas. My wife and I have visited Santa Fe 6 times before, including once previously with our whole family. Our only disappointment this time around had nothing to do with this property or our visits into Santa Fe. It was the relatively mild weather. We all live in Fort Worth, TX and we were really looking forward to enjoying some snow and cold, wintry weather. Mother Nature did not cooperate. But, our grandsons did get to enjoy a couple fun days in the snow right on this property. This log home sits at a little over 8200 ft in the forrest. So, much of the previous weeks' snowfall was still on the ground. The location also made for a very adventurous drive up and down the mountain as most of the the road, which is a dirt logging road, was still covered with with snow/ice. Yes...4-wheel or all wheel drive is definitely a must at this time of year. It's a beautiful drive up/down from Pecos along a very curvy logging road through the Forrest and around a canyon. This log cabin/house was as comfortable and enjoyable as the pictures suggested to us when we first reviewed the listing and booked our stay way back in February of 2016. This cabin has all the creature comforts but it's setting in the Forrest overlooking the Pecos river valley and the straight-on direct views of 2 mesas is its biggest benefit...just besting the friendliness and kind hospitality of Nikki, the owner!!! We really experienced a small taste of living in the wilderness, including the stunning star covered night sky. Pecos is a small town, with only a few retail stores or restaurants. The drive down from the mountain and into Santa Fe via I-25 was about 25 miles and took us about 40-45 minutes. Allow about 10-20 minutes up/down the mountain. Santa Fe is one of our very favorite towns to visit, especially during the Christmas season. I think the combination of shopping, food and cultural and historic experiences amongst Santa Fe's beautiful setting are really hard to beat. We also found that Nikki's friendly and accommodating hospitality and her wonderful log home are also hard to beat! We'd love to visit Nikki's cabin again and give Mother Nature another chance to deliver us some snowy, cold wintry weather to enjoy. Thank you so much, Nikki and Happy New Year!"

  • Our beloved Santa Fe sanctuary for twelve years

"If you do not see any reviews other than mine for this home it's because my wife and I have spent five weeks in it every summer for twelve years. If it weren't for personal reasons, we would return this coming summer, and no doubt for many summers to come. Karl and Rosvita, the home's owners, are gracious, wonderful hosts; their home isn't furnished as a sterile, rental-only property. It is truly their home, and the warmth you will while living in it is real. The house is far larger than it might appear. The patio adjacent to the kitchen is perfect for dining outside. The patio adjacent to the living room is larger. You can enjoy dinner or simply stare across the mesa to the mountains in the distance, and watch gorgeous sunsets. The house is a five minute drive from either downtown or Museum Hill, and a five minute drive from the first of one of the amazing trails there are to hike in the area. Before you reach it you'll pass Ten Thousand Waves, Santa Fe's legendary spa. The master bedroom is huge and the master bathtub is also a jacuzzi. The kitchen has everything you need in order to make everything from a cup of tea to a three course dinner. If you use wifi, the house has it; it can even be used outside of the house on one of the patios. If you would like a desk, there's a great, large desk in a home-office. If you like quiet, you'll find it here. The only house remotely close is Karl and Rosvita's guest house, which is typically occupied by a year round tenant who you will likely not even see, let alone hear. And the house, which is immaculate, is even more welcoming and spectacular than the pictures can adequately show. In short, if you want a quiet retreat in a beautiful setting, this is where you'll find it. If you stay there, you'll likely want to return. The home is that special."
