  • Comfortable house in great location

"This adobe is great for 2-4 people. Each br has a queen bed and a bath. The kitchen has a terrific stove, gas, with one smaller and one larger oven. The living room has a comfortable couch and a good reading chair. There are a couple of sitting places outside--important to take advantage of Santa Fe's lovely summer climate. The lack of air conditioning was no problem except for the unusually hot days at the beginning of our stay--then, even with closing all the doors and windows in the morning and using the fans, it was a bit warm. After that, the adobe walls did their thing and maintained the house at a good temperature. It's only a half mile to the farmers market and rail yard and just a bit further to the plaza. Being near St. Francis made for easy access to I25, the opera, etc. The neighborhood is quiet. We were happy with our month stay there. Couple of minor suggestions to make the the house even better--screens on all the windows and doors (we had to open everything most nights to get cooler air in so that it would be comfortable for sleeping and then the nest day) and outdoor chairs with some padding or cushions."

  • Adobe style, mountain views, short drive to Sante Fe

"We were specifically looking for something that looked and felt old style Santa Fe and this guesthouse delivered. It looks exactly like the pictures: adobe style walls, kiva fireplace in the living room and master bedroom, wooden beams, wooden floors, tons of NM tapestry and very cosy. There is an abundance of books/games and information. The bottle of red wine and phone call to ask if there was anything we needed was a nice touch. The beds were comfortable, the towels fluffy and the mountain views from the living room and master bedroom were breathtaking. We loved that there was a washer and dryer ( plus detergent!) and a cooler to use for day trips. The place is a little older, so if you are looking for pristine and sparkly new with state of the art things, it's not for you. And yes, there is a lot of decoration on all surfaces and not a lot of empty drawers and closets. But for us it was a non issue , because this place oozes New Mexico charm and it feels like you are staying at a friends house ! We were here with cool weather so had no opportunity to use the patio, but I can imagine it would have been awesome to sit on it and take in even more of the view. We would recommend this place and hope to be able to come again. It is most definitely good value for money in the Santa Fe area. No cleaning fees!"

  • Peaceful and Relaxing

"Our second visit to Shining Sun Casita was as wonderful as our first, last November. Just as advertised, all the amenities are taken care of - bedroom with a comfortable queen bed and dressers/chests to unpack you luggage, a large closet to store extra items, cozy bathroom with a wonderful shower, and a kitchen stocked with all the basic equipment for a home-cooked meal. As it was just the two of us, we had no need for the linens provided for the living room futon-sofa, but we both felt it was comfortable the night we opened it up to lounge while watching a movie. Although we spent most of our time hiking and sightseeing in and around Santa Fe, the TV with DirecTV service was enjoyable when we wanted to laze away a few hours in the evening. There was no need for the wood stove to heat the casita in May, but firewood was provided in case things turned cool. The great cottonwood tree just outside the casita provided cooling shade for porch sitting. And our dog loved all the smells and sounds of the barnyard just beyond the casita. All in all, this is a fantastic place to make your home base while exploring Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Bandelier National Monument, the Sangre de Cristos Mountains, Santa Fe National Forest, and points beyond. On this visit, we took in all of the above, as well as Fort Union National Monument. There is no shortage of great places to eat, but be prepared to drive to get there. And if you like to try your luck, there are numerous tribe-operated casinos nearby."

  • Nice condo

"Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The man we made our reservation with was nice and very professional. I called the manager twice about the toilet and dishwasher, left messages and calls were never returned. I called the emergency number to advise that we would be leaving earlier than the office opened to ask what to do with the keys. It was not a working number. I'm glad it wasn't an emergency."
