  • Best of Both Worlds

"I spent six days in the Aspen Suite first week of August. I have visited northern New Mexico many times and stayed in other VRBO homes as well as hotels. Typically I have stayed in the plaza area but this time I decided to locate a home a little bit outside of the city. I feel like I hit the jackpot. The rental is minutes off of Highway 285 and thus it is easy to get into Santa Fe. It is a charming out-of-the-way rental where you can enjoy some peace and quiet, beautiful scenery, lovely sunrises and freshly scented pinon, sage, snd juniper air! I usually spent much of each day running around, going to museums, shopping, meeting friends, but then picked up some groceries at Whole Foods or something already prepared and headed home to my high desert retreat. I found more time to relax on this trip then I usually do. The location is top-notch if you're headed to the opera, which I did twice. The suite is decorated with lovely original art, the tub is wonderful, the bed extraordinarily comfortable. I spent time drinking coffee on my private patio each morning. The owners greeted me upon arrival and checked in with me on Day 2, as they also live on the property. Otherwise, their presence was unnoticeable. There are other properties in the compound as well if you have a large party. All looked equally inviting. Eomnot pass this up!"

  • Beautiful home, mountain views, 2 minutes from town

"We have been staying in David's house for the last 7-8 years. In the last 30 years we have stayed all over Santa Fe, but this house is by far the best. The house truly is architecturally unique and David has furnished it with many interesting and unusual pieces. It has a spacious floor plan that is abundant in natural light with beautiful views of the mountains. The terrace is my favorite place to be in the morning with a cup of coffee and a good book. It is so peaceful and the air is fresh and clean. The desert landscape draws in the birds and butterflies and it just couldn't be more relaxing. The terrace is also the best place to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sun go down as the city lights begin to twinkle. We don't usually sleep well when we travel, but we sleep like the dead in the Sleep Number bed. There is also a Tempurpedic bed. The bed linens are soft and comfortable as are the bath towels. The house is immaculate and lovingly cared for by the property managers, Richard and Isabella, who we adore. They are so attentive to the details that really make the stay exceptional. Finally, during the winter, after a hard day of skiing we are thankful that the house is only a minute or so from town. We can zip in and grab a pizza, and be back at the house in time for sunset. Gotta mention how much we love the elevator too, but it runs a close race with the oversized fire place where you can build a serious fire. I guess I really shouldn't leave out the theater room that does have super comfy cuddle furniture that can easily accommodate our family of four. I rarely watch tv in this house but I did make an exception for Wimbledon! Oh, and there are tennis courts just down the highway at Fort Marcy! Bonus!!!"
