  • What a Bargain

"Spent just one night here with another couple. The house was comfortable and surprisingly large. Great location, we walked every place we went. Yavanne was very nice, the entire process was easy. We could have stayed here longer."

  • Wonderful place to relax and to enjoy the area!

"The house was very comfortable for 5 women to share. It was tidy, spacious, and in a nice location. We especially enjoyed having breakfast in the private courtyard, surrounded by lovely flowers. The property has a cozy, welcoming feel. We didn't end up cooking any meals since there were so many options for dining out, but the kitchen and dining room were inviting. We also didn't use the hot tub, but it looked very clean! The owner and manager were very accessible and quick to respond to our request of turning on the evaporative cooler. Both of them contacted us to make sure we were satisfied. We enjoyed our short stay in Taos and this home certainly is a gem!"

  • Lovely home

"Brenda and Ben have a lovely home that is nicely laid out, furnished and stocked. Didn't feel like a rental. The rooms are all a good size and the furniture was good quality and comfortable. They have created an English-style garden so lots of flowers to enjoy and stunning views for miles. Loved watching the horses across the street wander about the field. There were 5 of us and we had additional family staying nearby and we were able to comfortably prepare and host a couple dinners for a total of 11 with all the appliances, cooking and dinnerware we could need. We were there in early July so there were mosquitos in the early morning and evening but the many windows and doors were well screened so we could avoid them without feeling closed in. The temperatures inside and out were great. It's a little bit of a drive into town (10-15min), especially when Taos is busy as the main street gets very slow but the Smith's and Albertson's were well stocked. The slightly closer Cid's just didn't have enough selection and was significantly more expensive. High Mesa cottage is only a couple miles from Arroyo Seco which has a mellow, artsy main street where you can get pottery and ice cream and we walked over or stopped on our way back from hiking a few times. We went to the 4th of July parade there which I can only describe as a hoot. The cottage is well located overall and it was pretty easy access from the house to some great hikes in the north east ski valley area (~20min), a little bit longer to some southern hikes and rafting (~45 min or an hour). There was also a well stocked outdoor store in Taos (Taos Mountain Outfitters) that was very helpful in replacing my husband's hiking boots and finding some shirts for my son. When back in the Taos area we would definitely come back to High Mesa Cottage."

  • Lovely and serene

"My wife and I, along with our two dogs, had a wonderful four day break at Tierra Madre. We have been coming to Taos for several years and found your property the best by far! All the amenities of home, secluded and quiet, yet close enough to Taos to enjoy the restaurants, shops, mountain trails, and local flavor. We love the open concept great room and the artwork everywhere. We hope you will let us come back!"
