  • Walk to Taos Cow or Drive to Ski Valley

"This charming strawbale home is the perfect place, summer or winter. Close to the hiking trails off the ski valley road and within walking distance of Taos Cow, we got our exercise in the morning and then walked to Taos Cow in Arroyo Seco in the afternoons when we weren't bicycling around Valdez. The caretaker lives on the property, and we contacted him to change a smoke-detector battery in the second-floor ceiling (ladder required). He responded within minutes. He is familiar with all the trails and is happy to share his enthusiasm for the area. While we were there we looked for mushrooms but we will have to return next year! The house is "green," and we were happy to recycle. The design of the home is the most interesting we have seen in strawbale construction. Not only is there a half bath on the second story, but there are nichos and other thoughtful details throughout the home. The owner has an eclectic mix of art and weavings that blend flawlessly with the riot of colors outside in purple coneflower, Russian sage, and various sunflowers. We have rented 8 vrbo properties in the past two years, and this is the best for cleanliness, views, architecture, and location. You won't go wrong in renting this property for whatever activities you enjoy. A new plus is that it's close to a new restaurant, Common Fire, on the north side of Taos. We ate there 6 times during our month-long stay and enjoyed it like we had never been before every time. Sit close to the oven, or horno."

  • this unique Adobe condo was perfect for our get away!

"The condo was close to the plaza, but on a quiet side street. We loved the private patio. Really enjoyed the chiminaya on the chilly evenings. Everything we needed was provided."

  • Colorado and Kansas Family

"MY husband, myself, my brother and our mother stayed in this wonderful home for 5 nights. We've stayed in many VRBOs over the years and this one is by far our favorite. The pictures and description cannot do it justice. It is larger than one thinks and very well laid out. We enjoyed setting by the river. My mother, who turned 90 while we were there, especially enjoyed the screened in patio. She spent many hours out there enjoying the scenery and reading her favorite books. The kitchen is very well equipped which made meal preparation easy. The home is well supplied with towels, washcloths, etc. Enjoyed breakfast in Dixon at Zuly's. The food and service were equally good. Would we stay here again, you bet. Hope to celebrate our mother's 91st there. New Mexico is a great place to visit with many things to see and do!"

  • A great escape. Fun for kids and adults.

"This is the second time we have been here. We come here to stay and make day trips to Chama to ride the train. No hassles with this place. It's just a beautiful property inside and outside. The main house is the only one we have stayed in and its decorated wonderfully. The tree house out back is fabulous and we've spent more than one night up there. Kids love it. The property itself is tucked away but not too far away from town. There are other buildings on the property that have lots of character too, and the plants and flowers and outdoor art objects make the place fun wherever you turn."
