  • Walk to Taos Cow or Drive to Ski Valley

"This charming strawbale home is the perfect place, summer or winter. Close to the hiking trails off the ski valley road and within walking distance of Taos Cow, we got our exercise in the morning and then walked to Taos Cow in Arroyo Seco in the afternoons when we weren't bicycling around Valdez. The caretaker lives on the property, and we contacted him to change a smoke-detector battery in the second-floor ceiling (ladder required). He responded within minutes. He is familiar with all the trails and is happy to share his enthusiasm for the area. While we were there we looked for mushrooms but we will have to return next year! The house is "green," and we were happy to recycle. The design of the home is the most interesting we have seen in strawbale construction. Not only is there a half bath on the second story, but there are nichos and other thoughtful details throughout the home. The owner has an eclectic mix of art and weavings that blend flawlessly with the riot of colors outside in purple coneflower, Russian sage, and various sunflowers. We have rented 8 vrbo properties in the past two years, and this is the best for cleanliness, views, architecture, and location. You won't go wrong in renting this property for whatever activities you enjoy. A new plus is that it's close to a new restaurant, Common Fire, on the north side of Taos. We ate there 6 times during our month-long stay and enjoyed it like we had never been before every time. Sit close to the oven, or horno."

  • Fun and funky - perfect for two!

"What a fun and funky casita! Adobe style with mudded walls, tile floor (look for the little peculiar ones here and there!), and 2 fireplaces! Bed was super comfortable - best bed I've slept on in all of my travels. Plenty of pillows and blankets. Chairs and couch were very comfortable as well - perfect for après ski when you are too tired to do anything but fall onto the couch! Lots of storage areas for all your gear, plus plenty of freezer and fridge space for all the hippy food available at the grocery store. The casita overall, is very cozy, warm, and inviting. Owner was very nice, extremely easy to contact, and left perfect instructions and hints for anything you can imagine. Surprisingly simple to find and an easy drive to Taos Ski Valley. Just a straight shot! Also just moments away from Arroyo Seco - an interesting community with little shops and eateries. Plan on staying again for our next TSV trip!"

  • Great dog friendly adobe in Arroyo Seco

"Rented Kitty's casita from Aug. 5th - 8th of this year. The pictures looked great and the actual rental, even better. The adobe casita sits on the back of Kitty's property and is very private. Large fenced in yard for our dogs, they loved it. The hot tub was a great way to chill and relax after a long day. The main level consists of the living area and kitchen with the bathroom around the side hallway where there is a large closet for hanging clothing as well as shelves. The stairs up to the bedroom area are rather steep, and the dogs did not want to venture up. The bedroom , which is a loft is very comfortable with plenty of storage in the dresser. The area surrounding the adobe is very quiet and peaceful. It is just a short 2 mile drive into Arroyo Seco, and Taos is just another easy 9 mile drive down the road. We thought we had made a mistake staying so far out of Taos, but it ended up being the main reason we will return again. Thank you Kitty for letting stay in your casita, we will be returning soon."

  • Very comfortable House

"We needed a space for 7 adult relatives and this home worked very well. It was convenient that both bathrooms opened to the hall (as opposed to being a masterbath) and 2 king beds is nice. The great room had roomy table for all of us and a wonderful assortment of sofas & overstuffed chairs so we all had comfortable place to sit and relax. The photos actually don't seem to do justice to the nice furnishings. Being a 3 bedroom, one of our 7 did have to bed on the sofa sleeper in the great room but at least it was a 2nd sofa in the corner so they didn't have to wait for people to get off their "bed" at night. The kitchen stocked with many of the seasonings for cooking. Almost any utensil we needed was there. The back Patio is enormous and wonderful to gather around a fire. Due to issues with another house we'd originally reserved, we were panic mode and needed to make this reservation at the last minute. Pat & Jerry, the owners were very responsive to us, answering questions quickly so we could firm-up our plans. They also returned our deposit very quickly."
