  • Wonderful stay

"We loved Casita Des Montes. We have stayed in Taos and/or Arroyo Seco many times but this was one of the most pleasant settings we have been in. The house was very comfortable with beautiful pottery, blankets, and art along with comfortable couches and rustic furniture. THe pottery was so nice that I went to the Stephen Kilborn gallery to see about buying some. The mix of pottery with everyday dishes was really nice. We had our two dogs with us and they were able to "run around" the property without being on leashes. The snow inhibited them a bit (they were small schnauzers) but they still had a lot to explore. I worried about them barking with the caretakers so close next door, but they really only barked when they saw someone they didn't know (Lawrence-caretaker) or neighborhood dogs or the occasional bunny in the surrounding fields. There was a lot of snow the last couple of days of our trip but the driveway and walkways were kept shoveled and we had no issues. The house was warm and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and we had everything that we needed. The only two slight issues that we had were that we worried about the dogs because the caretakers house was so close and we didn't want them disturbed, and the hot water heater was not hot enough for two back to back showers. Not being in any type of hurry, it wasn't a big deal. However, it could be. We loved the house, the property and the location. We skied, we went into both Taos and Arroyo Seco for dinner and shopping, and it was easy to get anywhere from Apple Hill Farm. A tip for other travelers: we went to see the tribal Buffalo Dances at the Taos Pueblo and it was truly an experience that I would recommend. It was a great trip. We would stay at Casita Des Montes again."

  • Wonderful stay

"The house was very well thought out. A priority for us was that the kitchen was equipt to do some light cooking and it more than was. Not only did it have cook ware but also basis spices . So we cooked breakfast every day we were there The living room and bedrooms and dining area everything was nicely done. Well decorated and made us feel like we were staying in a piece of Taos history We didn't get to use the hot tub but it looked nice. Beds were comfortable and the entire place was cozy There was some slight noise at night but I suppose that goes without saying when living close to nature . One suggestion would be to get a bigger tv but otherwise everything else was spot on Will stay again if in Taos"

  • Great property in a very spectacular setting. We loved the views!

"This house was shared by ten individuals, it worked very well with plenty of room to gather and to separate. Kitchen worked very well for cooking for ten and the table handled us easily. We would stay here again. The owner was very present via e-mail for anything we needed, house is well stocked and very comfortable. Outdoor fire pit could use some more comfortable seating, but we are all in our 60"s. . . Thank you for a memorable stay!"

  • Relaxing and Renewing

"What a delightful time we had staying in the Casita. After our trek from OK, it was pleasant to be greeted by Ed and Melissa, who were quite welcoming and helpful with information about Taos and the area. We appreciated their recommendations regarding particularly good dining spots and the useful details only locals can give you about the tourist sights. The Casita was comfortable and clean, we slept well on the supportive mattress and found the casita to be well equipped for our cooking needs. It was just the right size for a couple. We have highly praised the Casita and its location to our friends and family. Our intention is to return for more relaxation and see more Taos sights. If you go don't miss the Pueblo, the Plaza, Taos Inn(Adobe Bar), Harwood Museum, St Francis Asis Church and a trek in the Carson National Forest."
