  • Great place to stay in historic Taos!

"I stayed in the casita for two nights and the location near the Taos Plaza, shops and restaurants could not have been better. I stayed there with my dog and we had a great time walking all around historic Taos and around Kit Carson park, which is about a block away. It was great to be able to walk everywhere and not hassle with parking. I highly recommend the small casita for 1-2 people due to there being only one shower and bathroom sink, as well as only one queen bed and one single bed. There is a larger house on the property that can accommodate larger groups. The casita location is on a shared property along an alley and other properties are somewhat close, but it was very quiet both during the day and night. No neighbor noise or barking dogs, which was great! The casita is very clean and comfortable. Some things, like towels and pots/pans, could use replacing with newer items, but the cost, location, cleanliness and niceness of the unit cannot be beat. Yavanne, who manages the property for David, was very quick to respond to any questions about the unit. I highly recommend staying at the casita for 1-2 people!"

  • Walk to Town

"If you are in Taos and want to be fairly close to town, this is a great place to stay if you don't mind a bit of a walk. Very spacious and clean. Bed slept great! Hot tub was wonderful but it is "shared" with the other rental below. We didn't mind because no one else was interested in it so that was nice at the end of the day. The kitchen was great because we like to take our own groceries and fix breakfast and a mid-day meal. If you are out in the evening, take a flashlight with you because it is a pretty dark path once you get away from town. We always felt safe though and actually enjoyed the walk. Most everything you will need is furnished for you if you need minimal supplies. Be sure and take anything you need (other than TP) for the bathroom. Being from Texas, we love the cool breeze at night but there were really only two windows to in the bathroom and one over the sink in the kitchen. A window unit will keep you cool, but if you like the night air, you might skip this one. All in all we were pleased and will keep this rental in mind when we return to Taos. Thank you to our hosts for sharing!"

  • Walk to Taos Cow or Drive to Ski Valley

"This charming strawbale home is the perfect place, summer or winter. Close to the hiking trails off the ski valley road and within walking distance of Taos Cow, we got our exercise in the morning and then walked to Taos Cow in Arroyo Seco in the afternoons when we weren't bicycling around Valdez. The caretaker lives on the property, and we contacted him to change a smoke-detector battery in the second-floor ceiling (ladder required). He responded within minutes. He is familiar with all the trails and is happy to share his enthusiasm for the area. While we were there we looked for mushrooms but we will have to return next year! The house is "green," and we were happy to recycle. The design of the home is the most interesting we have seen in strawbale construction. Not only is there a half bath on the second story, but there are nichos and other thoughtful details throughout the home. The owner has an eclectic mix of art and weavings that blend flawlessly with the riot of colors outside in purple coneflower, Russian sage, and various sunflowers. We have rented 8 vrbo properties in the past two years, and this is the best for cleanliness, views, architecture, and location. You won't go wrong in renting this property for whatever activities you enjoy. A new plus is that it's close to a new restaurant, Common Fire, on the north side of Taos. We ate there 6 times during our month-long stay and enjoyed it like we had never been before every time. Sit close to the oven, or horno."
