  • Super Cool Place - Great Owner

"We LOVED this place. The pictures are highly accurate. If you look at them and think - this place looks super cool! - then this place is for you. It's quirky and cool and just what we like. We loved the sleeping caves that get nice and dark. Feeding the birds and basking in the beauty that is literally right out your doorstep was a highlight. We even went sledding down the driveway - providing lots of laughs and tiring out our dog. Speaking of which, our dog was so happy here and we so appreciate being able to bring him. Note, the cabin includes many modern conveniences including lights, refrigerator, shower etc., but you will need to be willing to build fires in the wood stove for heat. We actually found it fun. Most of all Garrett was an exceptional host. He lives part time in a house just down the hill. He greeted us on arrival and showed us around the house teaching us how to properly build a fire in the wood stove, use the gas oven etc... He called to check in on us after a day to make sure everything was going fine. Finally, when snow was added to the forecast, he allowed us to add on an extra day to our stay to ensure safe travel home. We are so grateful and would definitely stay again when we return to Taos."

  • Perfect ski house

"Beautiful home! Nice, open floor plan with everything you need! Only minutes to the ski slopes, quiet, and kid friendly neighborhood. Right next door to the pool, tennis/basketball courts and lots of land for the kids to run safely."

  • Walk to Taos Cow or Drive to Ski Valley

"This charming strawbale home is the perfect place, summer or winter. Close to the hiking trails off the ski valley road and within walking distance of Taos Cow, we got our exercise in the morning and then walked to Taos Cow in Arroyo Seco in the afternoons when we weren't bicycling around Valdez. The caretaker lives on the property, and we contacted him to change a smoke-detector battery in the second-floor ceiling (ladder required). He responded within minutes. He is familiar with all the trails and is happy to share his enthusiasm for the area. While we were there we looked for mushrooms but we will have to return next year! The house is "green," and we were happy to recycle. The design of the home is the most interesting we have seen in strawbale construction. Not only is there a half bath on the second story, but there are nichos and other thoughtful details throughout the home. The owner has an eclectic mix of art and weavings that blend flawlessly with the riot of colors outside in purple coneflower, Russian sage, and various sunflowers. We have rented 8 vrbo properties in the past two years, and this is the best for cleanliness, views, architecture, and location. You won't go wrong in renting this property for whatever activities you enjoy. A new plus is that it's close to a new restaurant, Common Fire, on the north side of Taos. We ate there 6 times during our month-long stay and enjoyed it like we had never been before every time. Sit close to the oven, or horno."

  • Perfect in every way

"The Lucky Dog Casa is in the perfect location. Close to everything you need yet far enough out of town you can enjoy the peace and quiet and marvel at the beautiful night sky. The house was well stocked with everything we needed. We can't wait to return!"
