  • Beautiful and Quiet

"We had a great time as Casita Kalmar. The place is almost completely surrounded by high desert and the views were gorgeous, especially at sunrise and sunset. It is very quiet, usually you only hear the numerous birds and occasional sheep, horse or dog. At night you really can hear coyotes howling. The house itself had everything we needed for the four of us and was very cozy. There is no TV, but basic low speed internet connectivity was available. We did not have cell phone coverage at the house (from 3 different carriers), but we did in Santa Fe. The owner was responsive to questions and provided lots of information. Would love to stay again sometime."

  • Beautiful house and view!

"Our family of five (two adults and three kids) stayed here the week of 3/13/17. We have rented a lot through VRBO, and this is the best house we've ever stayed in. When you walk through the door, the view of the trees and canyon immediately hits you from the sliding doors by the fireplace. The house is built around that view. The kitchen is beautiful and has many useful appliances and utensils. The master bedroom has high ceilings, an automatic fireplace, a flatscreen TV, views of the canyon, and a giant bathroom complete with double sinks, a large shower, and a jetted tub. The second bedroom is also very pretty with a good bathroom and closet. My oldest daughter slept on the pull-out couch in the living room and loved waking up to that view every morning. We used the hot tub several times around dusk, and it was heaven. Jim was very responsive whenever we had a question, and it was clear how much he and his wife love and take care of the house and want you to feel at home. This house is outstanding, and we'll definitely rent it again if ever in the Ruidoso area."

  • Week long stay

"Our family spent 7 days between Christmas and new years, location was convenient for quick access to the slopes as well as the shops downtown, the grocery store (Albertsons) was very close too. Rooms were spacious, had plenty of extra bedding, blankets, kitchen was very well equipped. We saw a lot of deer in the backyard, it was a great stay."
