  • Love it!

"Its the perfect house to getaway for a couple. My husband and I have been staying here for years. We are big fans of the hiking in Albuquerque and the wonderful weather to be outside all year long. The house is perfectly set up for our long stays to cook and rest. Great amenities and the owners are the best hosts to make you feel welcome."

  • Perfect home base for our Santa Fe trip

"Bob's house was the perfect place for our family during our trip to Santa Fe. The views are even better than in the pictures. The home was comfortable for our family of six, with plenty of space for even the teenagers to spread out. It was an easy 20 minute drive to everything we wanted to do in Santa Fe. Bob gave plenty of ideas for activities too. Thank you for helping us with a memorable trip!"

  • Wonderfully appointed home

"We stayed over the Thanksgiving holiday and found the home to be wonderfully appointed. We had plenty of room for the extended family (5 different family units staying) and had lots of room for everyone. There were plenty of dishes, etc for a large holiday meal, which was great. Jim was fabulous and promptly answered each of my many questions upon arrival. The one thing we wished we could have changed was we would have liked having the radiant heat turned on as the week got pretty cold and we would have appreciated the ability to customize the temperature in each room a bit more. That being said, we understand totally that November can be really warm as well, so it is a roll of the dice this time of year whether or not radiant heat would be needed. Would recommend this home to anyone looking for a comfortable vacation spot."

  • Peaceful and Relaxing

"Our second visit to Shining Sun Casita was as wonderful as our first, last November. Just as advertised, all the amenities are taken care of - bedroom with a comfortable queen bed and dressers/chests to unpack you luggage, a large closet to store extra items, cozy bathroom with a wonderful shower, and a kitchen stocked with all the basic equipment for a home-cooked meal. As it was just the two of us, we had no need for the linens provided for the living room futon-sofa, but we both felt it was comfortable the night we opened it up to lounge while watching a movie. Although we spent most of our time hiking and sightseeing in and around Santa Fe, the TV with DirecTV service was enjoyable when we wanted to laze away a few hours in the evening. There was no need for the wood stove to heat the casita in May, but firewood was provided in case things turned cool. The great cottonwood tree just outside the casita provided cooling shade for porch sitting. And our dog loved all the smells and sounds of the barnyard just beyond the casita. All in all, this is a fantastic place to make your home base while exploring Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Bandelier National Monument, the Sangre de Cristos Mountains, Santa Fe National Forest, and points beyond. On this visit, we took in all of the above, as well as Fort Union National Monument. There is no shortage of great places to eat, but be prepared to drive to get there. And if you like to try your luck, there are numerous tribe-operated casinos nearby."
