  • A wonderful house in Taos

"The Bear House is one of the nicest houses we've ever stayed in. I kept moving with my tea and book from room to room, during our stay. I wanted to make sure I enjoyed every reading spot, every view. The newer living room is bright and airy and spacious. The older living room (it seemed older to me) is cozy and perfect for reading or movie watching. And the master bedroom is something out of a (well-furnished) dream. I was even sort of sorry the weather turned warmer, while we were there, because we so enjoyed watching the fire from bed. If you cook, the kitchen will delight you. It's well stocked and well organized. And if you are bringing dog, the house really is fenced. Often I've rented places and the fenced area is sketchy at best. But Bear House fenced, which is a good thing, since there are coyotes in the area. And fox! It was great to hear the vixens early in the morning. It's a lovely and easy walk to downtown. And I made a habit, in the evening, of walking up Las Cruces to Penitente Lane, following Penitente to the old Taos Morada, which is a gorgeous and strange spot. And we got to practice piano as well. There's an upright grand piano in one of the bedrooms. I wish I could give the house 6 stars. It's a 6 star house."

  • Dream BIG, Live LARGE, and rest PEACEFULLY

"This is our second stay at Casa De Cuentos! I have to be honest.... I hesitate to give it positive reviews in fear that too many others will be attracted to this haven and thus, ruin our secret! LOL Tammi and Dave are more than sweet hosts, they are compassionate, honest, genuine spirited people who for those who do not have this beautiful oasis, have thought of EVERYTHING to make your stay stress free and magical. From the quaint yet lush decorative attentions, to the bedding and furnishings, they have made you feel like you have arrived at home. THE NEW ADDITION IS SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!!! The 3 twin beds are wonderful. I had to steal time upstairs from my kids to have coffee at the bar to experience the serenity of the view! The living room view was initially my favorite on our first visit, before the addition. The upstairs instantly became my new fav! Dave came by to say hello and take care of the Hot Tub and took time to chat with me and just made me feel like he was visiting in MY HOME! The game room and all of the upgraded TVs are perfect! I wanted to pack up the couch and love seat and take it with me! Tammi has wonderful taste. They have worked hard to update what was already a heavenly destination. New fencing, decking, space, an art studio. I think the only thing we struggle with there is bathroom space for our large family. 2 bathrooms and only one shower, though the tub has shower ability. But showers are a technicality when you are supposed to just shower and get out so you don't waste precious time missing the atmosphere of the home! I love the individual items that make Casa de Cuentos charming... The creative artwork, picturesque windows, the kiva fireplaces, the rocks all around the house from their personal travels, the pictures of their own family that give you a glimpse into their hearts, the heated flooring, Rooster's Honor Bar, and my families most memorable.... The inspirational rocks all around the property! Our first visit my kids took that as one of their favorite memories. In fact, this time we found our own rocks around Taos, painted them and each of us put our inspirational sayings on them and left them for our return visits. Ours may not be as artistic as Tammi's, but they are just as heartfelt. We will be back. I hope again and again. Tammi and Dave, thank you for making this a personal best vacation destination! Shhhhh..... don't tell too many people about Casa De Cuentos! ;)"

  • Fall in love ~ with the weather, Pat's art and Casa Carmen

"We've stayed at the Casa Carmen during other seasons and fall this year was wonderful. The leaves were changing, the crispness of fall was in the air, amazing art in the home by Pat and in town, the festivals and the home & hosts were perfect. Pat & Carmen are wonderful hosts and always have the home with everything you'll need to enjoy and relax. I love that we can bring our two dogs and they love the walks and the fenced in backyard is very appreciated. During our stay it was cool in the evenings so the wall fireplace upstairs was just what was needed to knock the chill out of the room. The sunrises and sunsets from the decks are spectacular. Close enough to everything but far enough away to enjoy the tranquility that the Arroyo Seco area offers."
