  • Nice, clean!

"Had a very nice time with the family. Plenty of space for all of us. The crib and high chair were much appreciated."

  • A little gem off the beaten path!

"What a great vacation! My family of 6 needed to disconnect from our busy day to day and this home was perfect. The house was cozy and clean and the view could not be beat! Hiking, swimming, fishing, exploring or just relaxing, this is the place to go. Although we only met Gary when we arrived, he and his daughter were very nice and showed us around the place (in the rain) and made sure to answer any of our questions. Thank you for sharing your home with us and we hope you and your guests enjoy the float we left behind. All the best!"

  • Just Like Home; Just Like Family

"Our extended family stayed in this house for a week over the 4th of July. Our experience right from the start with Doug and Barb was exceptional. They fully accommodated our initial arrangements when we had a few changes. They welcomed us with "open arms" and a bottle of wine upon our arrival! And they were available during the week if we needed them. The house is just lovely- very well appointed and equipped. There was nothing we needed. The yard was wonderful for the kids. And we all loved the visit from the deer ever morning and afternoon. Parking was adequate for the guests we had during the week. And the location is ideal- a couple blocks from the main street that goes through Old Forge. We could get to everything without getting in the car. I fully recommend this property. We stay there again in a heart beat. If felt like home in more ways than one."

  • Peaceful, relaxing cottage on a private peninsula in a mountain lake

"My wife and I stayed at the cottage with our two young adult children. The cottage is located at the end of a private peninsula on Brantingham Lake. Another nearly identical cottage is nearby, but the next closest dwelling is at least 200-300m away. The peninsula is heavily wooded, and filled with huckleberry and blueberry bushes. Our cottage has a small private beach and dock, and a waterside fire pit that was a great place to send the day. The opposite side of the peninsula has a dock that was great for relaxing; my son would play his guitar on the dock late into the evening. Even though there are many other homes on the lake, the lake never seemed to get crowded. For the most part, people on the lake avoided generating excessive noise after dark. The house is what we expected for a lakefront camp; no frills, plainly decorated, but with lots of chairs for seating (we have rented places in the past that lacked seating). The beds were also surprisingly good for a rental. The owner provides a rowboat, which was used frequently. If you have your own stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, etc., the cottage is a great place to relax and enjoy easy access to a beautiful lake. We didn't own our own watercraft, however, so we ended up driving about an hour to Old Forge and Watertown for activities several of the days during our stay. We did rent (very reasonably priced) kayaks locally one day, and spent the entire day at the lake. This was one of our best days. We dined at 2 local restaurants--the Pine Tree Inn and the Trailside. The food was great at both, and reasonably priced. The general store also makes tasty subs (grinders, hoagies, etc.). Overall, we found the property owners, and other people at the lake to be very friendly. We will likely stay here again."
