  • Great cabin

"A lovely little cabin on the water with dock access, perfect for some peace and quiet. Water was beautiful while we visited in late August, clear and good for swimming. House was clean and kitchen has all appliances, dishes and utensils you need. Owner was very courteous and helpful. Local town has all the basic needs and is only about 15 minutes away. The stars are gorgeous at night. Aug. 2016"

  • Fantastic vacation spot!

"We just came back from our week long vacation at "Rising Sun". Everything lived up to the description of this rental. The cottage was exceptionally clean. cozy and comfortable. My husband, daughter and I spent our week boating, tubing, fishing, sight seeing and relaxing! Carl and Eileen are the perfect hosts! They are welcoming and warm and full of hints and tips on what to see and what to do. This was my FIRST time ever renting someone's "home" and they made it easy and painless with quick responses to my emails and texts. I would highly recommend "Rising Sun" as a vacation spot to anyone who loves the Lake George/Adirondack area...it's breathtaking beautiful! Thanks again Carl & Eileen...we loved all of it <3"

  • Perfect

"This property is exactly as advertised, and my family could not have been happier with the experience. It was a perfect vacation for us (myself, wife, 4 year old son, 9 and 16 year old daughters). Every one of us enjoyed the kayaks, the peddle boat, and the entire house in general. There was more than enough room for all of us. We loved the drive down the dirt road to get to the house and greatly appreciated its seclusion. At the same time, there is a 24 hour Walmart, a Rite Aid, Dunkin Donuts, McDonald's, and a Subway 5-10 minutes away from the house. We did a pretty large food shop at Walmart the day we arrived and ate the majority of our meals at the house. We enjoyed making breakfast each morning and doing a lot of BBQing. It was a world of difference from most vacations where we've had to eat out for every meal and always seemed to rush from one thing to the other. We took a few awesome day trips including Ausable Chasm, the Ben and Jerry's Factory in Vermont, and Lake George Village. (If going into Vermont for the day, we suggest driving over the bridge and returning on the ferry, or vica versa...two different scenic routes). The owners were extremely easy to work with and also very responsive to all questions and concerns before, during and after our stay. If there was anything at all that wasn't perfect, it was the fishing from the dock. I'm sure it is because of the time of year I went, but the vegetation and growth so close to the shore made for nothing but the hooks getting caught up and dragging in all the weeds. We did catch a bunch of fish, though, once we took the poles with us out on the kayaks and peddle boat, past all the growth. The vast majority of things we did and places we went were all from the list of suggestions provided by the owners once you book with them. Nothing disappointed. It was all fantastic. So, we had an amazing, relaxing, and much needed vacation that provided an abundance of family time and allowed us to all really take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and really enjoy eath other. We look forward to staying here again in the future. - The McGowan's from Long Island, NY"

  • Quiet & Unique with a Vista View

"I enjoyed a one-week stay at Bruce and Susan's picturesque property. They have their own "Walton's Mountain" in a way. Hulett's Landing is off the main track and offers a quiet, friendly, upper-scale ambiance. Residents seem connected through history and traditions--yet are valuers and respecters of privacy. The property is atop a mountain road that passes by a few homes and ambles through tree-laden area before reaching the Young's private driveway. An unpaved road winds up to their oasis overlook. The cabin home has solid craftsmanship and charm. The layout is a large open-room style. Mounted hunting trophies offer a truly striking decor. It's not just decoration--it's testimony to Bruce's exotic life of world-wide hunting, a museum in kind. The trophies are tastefully displayed and well-lighted at rafter height (not looking you in the eye). Cool and special. Comfortable bed, wonderful quiet, and a mountain vista view. I found the kitchen island convenient to work with and the back patio a pleasant setting. Small details say a lot, and finding comfortable towels, scented cachet packets in the wardrobe drawers, and dual coffee makers (regular or Kuerig) was appreciated. I'd advise future guests of two things: 1. The cabin sets close to the Young's home. 2. The cabin is an open-room style that has designated sections, but not walled off separations. The advertised pictures are very accurate, and calling it a "cabin" somewhat does an injustice. It's a distinctive cabin-like lodge that feels "new" and is well-maintained. Ticonderoga and Schroon Lake made for nice side trips, and the Vermont border is a 20-minute drive. Bruce and Susan are accommodating hosts (with fascinating backgrounds) who appreciate meeting you. They grant professionalism and privacy. I sincerely appreciated their warm and genuine hospitality. --D. Beck"
