  • Great location, all amenities taken care of, great experience

"The house was very well stocked with all the necessities. It is in a gorgeous setting, walking distance to a lovely community preserve and only 2 miles from mirror lake. 15-20 mins to whiteface. Everything was clean and prepared for our visit. The owners were accessible and proactive. If there were any negatives, they were that the cable package didn't have ESPN during bowl season, and the fireplace was gas powered rather than wood burning. But the overall experience dwarfed those minor setbacks. We simply watched football on the iPad and didn't have to clean a fireplace at the end of our stay. I would recommend this house to anyone with a family. Mine will certainly be back!"

  • We really liked the little apartment on Mirror Lake.

"It felt rustic and quaint when we walked in the door and quickly became very comfortable. It was conveniently located since it is in the center of downtown and surrounded by good restaurants. We liked watching the ice skaters on the lake and had great views of the fireworks across the lake one night. My husband watched a fabulous sunrise one morning. Parking was a bit of a hassle but we made it work (luckily the tickets aren't super expensive if you don't read the signs well, our fault). We did not cook much and when we did we found everything we needed. The mattress is noisy as was mentioned before; we still slept okay. The owner was very friendly and helpful and it was well priced. We would definitely stay there again if we ever went back."

  • Nice place, but not a great place.

"My rating is 3.5 stars, but since that's not an option, I'm rounding up. Overall we had a good experience at Go Cottage. It's an older structure which has been updated in certain some ways giving it charm and it's pretty clean. It doesn't strike me as a home worthy of magazine features as mentioned on the web site. The property is well located with easy access to downtown and the many recreational activities in the area. It is on the main road, Rt. 73, but it is far enough up a driveway that you don't notice the traffic sounds. There are 2 units on the property, the cottage and an adjacent studio, so you may have a neighbor. Everything in the cottage is on the small side. It's hard to have more than 2 people at a time in the kitchen or bathroom (not that you'd want a group in the bathroom, but there is only 1). The "2 bedrooms" are separated by french doors with sheer curtains on them, and you have to walk through the first bedroom to get to the second. There's not too much privacy or sound filtering between the rooms. On the topic of privacy, all of the windows have sheer curtains and no shades to pull down. If the lights are on inside and you're standing outside, it's very easy to see everything going on inside the cottage. There is no real yard to speak of, a few pieces of furniture and fire pit in a very small fenced in area of fading grass and dirt. Sharon seems nice (we only communicated via email) and she's very careful to make sure that the cottage is treated properly by her guests. We arrived in the morning to hike, but check in wasn't until 3:00 and the housekeepers were going to be busy in the house prior to that. After some haggling back and forth, she allowed us to leave our luggage in her garage before we hit the trail head. I would recommend this property for a couple or small family. Two couples should only use it if they don't care about privacy."
