  • Just Like Home; Just Like Family

"Our extended family stayed in this house for a week over the 4th of July. Our experience right from the start with Doug and Barb was exceptional. They fully accommodated our initial arrangements when we had a few changes. They welcomed us with "open arms" and a bottle of wine upon our arrival! And they were available during the week if we needed them. The house is just lovely- very well appointed and equipped. There was nothing we needed. The yard was wonderful for the kids. And we all loved the visit from the deer ever morning and afternoon. Parking was adequate for the guests we had during the week. And the location is ideal- a couple blocks from the main street that goes through Old Forge. We could get to everything without getting in the car. I fully recommend this property. We stay there again in a heart beat. If felt like home in more ways than one."

  • Wonderful Experience

"This home was very spacious and had a great layout for multiple couples or families. The kitchen felt like cooking at home with every amenity available. The house was located in a convenient location to town and activities."

  • Fantastic for a Family Get-Away!

"The house was exactly right for our one-week, ten-person family vacation. I'd absolutely recommend it to family and friends, and depending on the size of our group next year we will absolutely consider staying here again! Pros: - Tons to do within an hour's drive (Fort Ticonderoga, lakes/ponds/rivers galore, hiking, towns of Lake Placid/Bolton Landing/Lake George/Saratoga Springs, etc.) - On a "perfect" river with a little "beach"; slow relatively warm water good for limited swimming / quick dunks as well as canoeing/tubing (we put in at the property and ~ 5 hours later pulled out at County Home Bridge Rd a few miles downstream) - Huge, HUGE grassy backyard perfect for games - Fantastic porch for outdoor meals - Two car garage converted into two game rooms - Two kitchens (for us that was a plus because we used both refrigerators) - Secluded and private - Fire pit next to the river - Toys for toddlers (play house, kid pool, etc.) - Responsive owners/managers - Pet friendly - I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff - WiFi (which is really a good thing to have, since many of us, especially those with AT&T lacked cell service here...which I'm putting down as a PRO!!!) - Clean and well-maintained Cons - Property secluded, but can still hear highway when outdoors, even later at night (note: not a big issue outdoors, and not an issue at all when inside) - Found a few stray pieces of broken glass near fire pit - No outdoor location to put out trash"

  • Brookside Cottage Lake Placid

"Stayed at Brookside with my family of 5, sister and nephew, mom and dad and dog. Total of 9. I have 3 kids ages 6,6,9. All of us had a great time, went on a number of hikes, ventured into town and had a great stay at Brookside. The property was well cared for. Lots of new renovations. Had all of the amenities one could need plus a great game room over the garage with jukebox, poker table, tv, darts and pool. My 20 year old nephew loved it over there but it got too cold to stay up there the last night. The fire pit worked out well for roasting marshmellows. Only goofy part was the big step down from the rooms and in the middle of the night, it can be tough if you don't remember. The new tree house looks like a neat addition but the workers were there early Saturday morning working on it despite renters in the house. So we left and went for a hike. All in all, a great time with no major issues at all with the property. Time well spent."
