  • Heart of the Adirondacks

"Our family had such a wonderful time at Moose Lodge and we would highly recommend it to anyone as a home base in the playground that is ADK. The place is described to a T; clean, beautiful, and well appointed. We all got up and got in some exercise in that mountain air every morning. Fantastic area for walks, runs, hikes, or cycling. Really recommend riding north up Route 26 toward Duane Center then down route 30, or along route 60 toward Paul Smiths/Gabriels to 86 and loop back around to Loon Lake up route 3. My dad and I rode down to Lake Placid one morning; beautiful ride. Great hikes to a number of remote mountains close by. Way fewer people at the trail heads up this way than down around the high peaks areas. Definitely do Crusher mountain; so easy, and a great payoff. We recreated at Loon Lake for some portion of each day during our stay too, and it is stunning. We swam, and used the provided floaties, canoe, and kayaks. While paddling with my wife and daughter, we had a Loon pop up just over a paddle length from the canoe and hang with us for a moment. Nothing like a mountain lake! Though we didn't do any fishing, unfortunately, there look to be some prime places in this region, including Loon Lake. Noticed a couple of flippin' sticks available for use by the entrance of the lodge too. Plenty of literature about the surrounding area is provided. We browsed and planned what to do next while relaxing around the house and deck at mealtimes and in the evening (in between shooting shuffleboard downstairs with my daughter). The drive up Whiteface is a must. Seeing the sights of Lake Placid and Saranac Lake are too. Everybody had fun on the boat tour of Lake Placid. If you're into craft brew, you gotta spend some time in Lake Placid and Blue Line breweries; good folks good brews. We really enjoyed the Wild Center in Tupper Lake. We did so much, but felt like we just scratched the surface. Can't wait to visit again. Hope you have as much fun as we did."

  • Perfect tranquil getaway

"We brought our one year old and family dog for a relaxing break with great views. We all had a wonderful time. When our daughter was sleeping we enjoyed cards on the porch overlooking the water and fires on the patio. Adirondack chairs on the dock were great for morning coffee or watching moon rise over the lake and mountains at night. Also a hammock by the shore was a great spot for an afternoon nap. Fishing was good too, mostly perch. I caught a perch on the first cast there and a nice smallmouth bass as well later in the week. Kitchen was very well equipped. Cottage was clean, comfortable. Attention to detail. There were toys for my daughter to enjoy. Nice selection of glassware for any drinks you'd enjoy. Highly recommend. There are camps on either side, but they are hidden by trees. We didn't see anyone else our whole stay. There is a stream that trickles over rocks on the edge of the property that provides soothing sounds to fall asleep to."
