  • Absolute perfection for our getaway

"We could not have dreamed up a better place for our extended family of 11 to gather for a visit in Lake Placid. The house is perfectly appointed in every way -- that kitchen is to die for! -- with stunning views, plenty of room for everyone to spread out, extreme comfort and amenities galore. The owner provided all the information we needed and answered every question beforehand; the house was in perfect shape when we arrived and not one of us wanted to leave when our time was over. The location was great for us -- not in the midst of any tourist season crowds, but so easily accessible for downtown Lake Placid, the Olympic sites or mountain hiking (and we were able to do all three!). Our only regret is that we could not watch the Summer Olympics together on a big TV, because there *is* no TV. That was a minor issue, though, as we were able to stream coverage on laptops thanks to wifi. All in all, a stunning home, wonderful owners to deal with and a location ideal for our adventures. Thank you!"

  • GREAT location for hiking, great for dog owners, clean and comfortable.

"We've stayed at the Hiker's Roost several times with our dogs. It's minutes from several major High Peak parking areas, as well as great non-High Peak mountains and a few fire towers. The backyard is fenced in, making it an easy stay for dogs. It's minutes from Marcy Field, which has a hiking trail that dogs are allowed on, as well as a gravel path outlining the field for those that only need a 20 minute daily walk with senior dogs. The furniture is comfortable and it's great to have access to a full kitchen so there's an option not to have to eat out for each meal. The house is clean and cared for and the owners care very much for the environment."

  • comfortable spacious great location

"Our group of 14 included eight kids under 12 years old who loved the "in-house movie theater" and played for hours in the large fenced in backyard - which the two dogs also appreciated. The adults loved the large professional grade kitchen, a private bathroom attached to each of four bedrooms, the very large deck where we barbeqd multiple times while watching the kids play kickball. The driveway can probably accommodate 6 to 8 cars. There are many private sitting areas where one could relax away from the crowd. We walked to town, to the Mirror Lake beach, to the supermarket - great location. The only suggestion to improve the comfort level would be to add air conditioning units to the four main bedrooms - it certainly cools down in the evening but during the day coming back from a walk in the summer heat - a cool bedroom would be welcome. There were fans but they merely spread the warm air. We will certainly be back and would highly recommend the house."
