  • A PERFECT RETREAT!!!

"Probably our most relaxing vacation ever! (and we travel to various Caribbean spots each year) Submerged in the peaceful sounds of nature, we found ourselves consumed by the blissful enjoyment of this quaint and cozy cabin nestled in the private and secluded Catskill Mountains. The cabin is just awesome! The outdoor shower is so invigorating. We enjoyed the outdoor grilling and evening campfires. Peaceful, relaxing, devoid of all the daily stimuli, this beautiful cabin absolutely exceeded our expectations, and we look forward to returning soon. A truly amazing weekend at this quaint and cozy cabin retreat. Thank you!"

  • Better than a resort!

"We stayed here rather than a resort because we didn't want to deal with tons of people. And it was wonderful! We, my husband and I, my brother's family, and my other brother and his wife, came for our niece's wedding. We are all from out of state. One of my sister-in-laws is a travel agent. And all she kept saying the whole time was, "OMG this is so high end!" She was commenting on the shampoo, the food in the fridge, the towels, the sheets, the mattresses, the vacuum, etc.." I just kept laughing because she didn't expect to find so many amenities in a VRBO. My husband is an amateur photographer and he spent his down time photographing all the yard art, mountain shots, sunsets, house decorations, and the patio collections. It is a very extensive and eclectic collection of art and antiques in the house and on the property. It rained most of the time we were there, but that did not stop my nephews, brothers, and my husband from using the pool. And my sister-in-laws really loved the hot tub. When the sun did come out, we hiked the neighborhood roads because we really liked the area and scenery. It was a wonderful hike uphill all the way to the end of the road. There was much laughter around the kitchen table and much ribbing between the Bros. We had a wonderful time at the wedding as well as the rehearsal dinner which were held 10 to 20 minutes away at commercial resorts. We even went to the Kaleidoscope Festival in Emerson that weekend. We shopped at Bread Alone for bread and the local IGA for a few items needed to make breakfast and lunch for the crew. The kitchen is extremely well appointed with equipment for the gourmet chef. My travel agent Sis-in-law was even more surprised to find a NutriBullet(900?) in the kitchen. One Sis-in-law made her gluten free, organic, vegan pancakes, and the other Sis-in-law made her organic, bee pollen, goji berry, sustainable permaculture smoothie. Sorry people, I just had good old bacon and eggs with Bread Alone toast. Oh, and I had some of the organic butter with the toast compliments of the fridge. It is such a peaceful neighborhood with birds singing woodland songs early in the morning. And the beds are so comfortable, everyone slept late. This home is so comfortable and clean, like visiting grandma's. A place that people live in, not just look at and it has everything. We loved our stay. And since my sister lives in the area, we will be back and stay here again. It really is better than a resort!"

  • Comfortable, charming, and well appointed

"Marty's house feels like home. It is tastefully furnished, well appointed with everything you need for a short or extended stay, and the grounds are lovely. I stayed with my two children (12 and 15) and we all had a turn on the rope swing. A robin had made her nest in the vines on the front porch, so we got to watch her tending her young. My dog loved the acre of land to wander around. The only thing that dampened our stay was the traffic noise from Route 28 (the house sits right on the main road through the Southern Catskills), and because the house was on a busy road, we had to get in the car to find quiet lanes to walk the dog on. But there are plenty of hiking trails a short drive away, as well as a really nice supermarket in Boiceville (10 mins away), so I highly recommend the house as a base camp for exploring the region. Be warned that cell phone service is spotty to non-existent (for both Verizon and AT&T), but Marty has excellent WiFi and a land line and I was able to work on my laptop the whole time we were there. Marty, my only suggestion is to type up a fact sheet for the house - where to find essentials, where to get food and gas, etc. Otherwise, thanks for sharing your house with us!"
