  • Spacious house with open design and breathtaking views

"Our experience with this house, from the time of booking to our departure, was outstanding. The house is just as seen in the photos, with quality furnishings, simple and clean décor, and lots of open space. You get a great view of the mountains from practically every room in the house (and there are plenty of windows)! It was very easy to settle in and feel right at home quickly. the fact that the house was so clean was a huge plus! We were two adults and two young kids, so obviously didn't utilize all the space/rooms, but were still able to enjoy all aspects of the house, including the pool table on the ground floor. There is a flat front lawn, which was great for the kids to play on, but the wooded and sloped back yard was also fun for the kids to explore. Given the house is situated higher up in the mountain, it is nicely secluded and peaceful. Much like other guests who have stayed here, we are very much looking forward to returning one day."

  • Cozy Family Getaway in the Woods

"This Craftsman cottage had everything we were looking for in a long weekend getaway. First, the house is so charming and cozy. We just returned from a Memorial Day vacation but I can't wait to come back in the fall or winter to enjoy the fireplace and dark wood interior. I agree with at least one other reviewer, the pictures don't do it justice, particularly the living room, which is larger than we expected. Two couples with younger kids (two 12-year-olds and a 6-year-old) had plenty of room to cook, play cards, etc. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, and there were plenty of linens and towels for all. Next, the surroundings are gorgeous. The house sits among giant trees and near a beautiful cliff. We took advantage of the surroundings, spending much of our time outdoors on the property and hiking nearby. The kids loved the plants, rocks and streams they discovered. Further, the house is in the perfect location for exploring Woodstock, including town center, swimming holes, art and more. Finally, Marietta is a wonderful host. She communicated everything we needed for our arrival, made herself available throughout the stay, and was just a pleasure to deal with!"

  • Spectacular

"What a great getaway from NYC...only a few hours drive. Palenville is centrally located, and within 30 minutes of so many places to explore...Hunter Mountain, Saugerties, Woodstock, Hudson, Rhinebeck...we loved Fernwood, the family-run restaurant, just steps from our front door. The owners were very attentive hosts and made our stay most comfortable. Kept our dogs on-leash, most of the time, and walked each individually after dark, given how dark it was and knowing that animals were lurking...didn't see them, but did smell skunk. If you do go, you'll probably say that the pictures don't do it justice..."
