  • Clean, cozy, convenient

"This was a great find in the village of Woodstock. The house is clean, nicely decorated, set-up well and offered everything we needed. We stayed with our 3.5 year-old son so had that extra consideration of flow and set-up and this house worked. We had our son stay up in the master room with us but there is also a second bedroom on the ground floor. There is a small yard, books, and toys. The gracious host even left goodies and provided sleds for us. We are happy to discover this new option for our frequent visits to the area and definitely recommend it!"

  • Perfect for a Family Get-Together

"We recently invited our two adult children, their spouses, and our two little grandchildren for a long Columbus Day weekend at this lovely home just a few miles from Woodstock. The house was comfortable, well-stocked and charming, with lots of living space, updated kitchen and 2 1/2 bathrooms. Everything was spotless. The four bedrooms were large and the beds were comfy--well set up for our family of 8. A wonderful surprise was the children's playroom/family room stocked with toys, which kept the kids happily occupied when we weren't outside. Loved the screened-in porch for morning coffee and a glass of wine at sunset, while looking out at the private backyard surrounded by tall pines. The house is perfectly located--easy access to Woodstock with its shops and restaurants, Kenneth Wilson State Park for hikes and kayaking/canoeing, Saugerties (walk to the lighthouse), and other fun places. Our host Leda was very helpful and always accessible by phone. What a wonderful weekend! We hope to do it again."

  • Gorgeous property, comfy home

"My wife and I stayed here with another couple and our kids (collectively, four boys between 2 and 6 yrs old) over Labor Day weekend. The property is really gorgeous -- plenty of room to kick a ball around in the back yard and then there's the lovely little pond which the boys enjoyed exploring (toads, a flock of wild turkeys etc.) Town is a ten minute drive away, convenient and cute. We'd been to Woodstock plenty of times, so really we were just up there to escape apartment life in Brooklyn and enjoy nature. There's a hammock out front that was just wonderful -- both for playing with the kids in it and for taking a restorative mid-day nap. Great grill on the back porch and the jacuzzi was perfect for a grownups-only bottle of wine at night when the kids went to bed. The inclusion of all the sheets and towels is a huge plus and made packing easy; the place is very clean and easy to get around (so long as you can handle stairs etc.) My only knock is that it'd be nice if the owner allowed tenants to use the fire-pit...our boys were very interested and wanted to make s'mores etc, but it is clearly disallowed so we did not. I understand (since I used to own a place w fire-pit and not everyone knows how to manage a fire safely.) Still, kind of a bummer. That said, don't let that little quibble prevent you from renting this stellar property. owner was very easy to work with and communicates well with detailed instructions on everything (verging on the hilariously over-documented, but actually super useful!)"

  • Our second stay at the magical Waterfall House

"We first stayed at the Waterfall House two years ago. We returned this fall 2016 and was not disappointed.. It was as wonderful as we remembered. The warm welcome (beautiful fall day, windows open, breeze blowing through the house and friendly greeting from Margie), the beautiful grounds and falls, the lovely fun house, the quiet, semi-private space all made the second visit to this charming place perfect."
