  • Beautiful fall getaway

"My boyfriend, our dogs and myself had a great time at the Little Red Cabin. It is the perfect size for a couple and we enjoyed our nights playing scrabble (provided w the cabin) by the fireplace. There isn't a TV but with Internet access, you don't miss it and was nice to get away from. The cabin has a unique charm and we felt right at home. The location is great and even with Rt 28 being so close, I couldn't hear the cars/trucks. We've visited Phoenicia before by way of camping but now I think we'll be renting a cabin every year instead. The town is small but has everything you will need if you don't have a car. Woodstock is only a 20 min drive and is fun to walk around as well and there are more restaurants there. Hiking in the Catskills is amazing! Can't wait to go to Phoenicia next year!"

  • Perfect for a weekend in the Catskills!

"We couldn't have asked for a better rental. The house had plenty of space for 8 of us, we were very comfortable. Kitchen has everything you need, too. We stopped by the Boiceville Market for groceries, and Shirley had all the plates, cups, pans, small appliances, etc we needed. The back yard was perfect! So big and well maintained. We didn't end up using the pool because it rained most of the time when we weren't out hiking, but the hot tub was very clean and well maintained - perfect to have it under a roof so we could still enjoy on a rainy day! It's also close to great hiking trails, we did Woodland Valley and Peekamoose (amazing swimming hole). The house was just perfectly convenient, clean, comfortable, and Shirley was extremely helpful when we had questions throughout our stay. It's obvious that Shirley has put a lot of love into this home to make it a great experience for her guests. Great rental, great weekend!!"

  • The Happy Home could not be a more appropriate name

"A group of us (girlfriends) stayed at The Happy Home for 5 days and wish it could have been longer. The house was amazing. There are several really comfortable large areas (the kitchen, the great room and library) where we comfortably could all spread out and relax. The house is also so large that there's always areas to enjoy some privacy too. The decor is also beautiful - with all sorts of amazing pieces of art - and it makes it feel like a home (not a rental property). The kitchen is a dream with amazing appliances and has a great seating area and it came supplied with all of the plates, pots, pans, utensils and even spices so it was really easy to pick up a few things and be able to cook entire meals. We loved not needing a car and were able to walk to town (great stores and restaurants) and to the Dutchess County Fairgrounds. The outside spaces at the house are stunning - we were there in the Fall and the trees were beautiful. The hardest part was deciding where to sit outside - there is a deck off the kitchen, another gazebo-like area off the library, chairs in the yard and a beautiful sitting area off the living room. The beds are comfortable and there were plenty of blankets and linens. There's even a laundry room if you need it. Also the wi-fi worked great as a few of us needed to check in for some work things. We'll definitely be back!"

  • Perfect cottage in the woods

"My friend and I traveled to Rhinebeck for the Dutchess County Sheep and Wool Festival in October, and everything about my experience with Dan and this cottage were top notch. We were traveling from Canada, and at every step of the way, Dan was patient and thoughtful in helping us plan our accommodations. All of our emails backs and forth were detailed and timely, and I appreciated Dan's patience and understanding with arranging payment from another country. In the days leading up to the trip, Dan sent me detailed directions to the cottage, which were incredibly helpful in navigating the local highways and winding country roads. When we arrived at the cottage after a long day of driving, Dan was right there to meet us, and he walked us through every feature of the cottage. It was fantastic, and especially appreciated the fireplace in the living room (we used it both nights we were there!). The cottage includes a small kitchen, which was perfect for putting together our own breakfasts each morning. Dan left coffee, a bottle of milk, and muffins for us in the kitchen, which was a sweet touch. Having a car with us with necessary, as the cottage is about an 8 minute drive from downtown Rhinebeck, but it was a short trip to go and find a meal or explore the town. Dan's restaurant suggestions were right on, we really enjoyed the Thai food place he recommended. The cottage includes WiFi and satellite TV, and it couldn't be a more perfect location. You can sit out on the covered porch and enjoy your coffee while you look out over the trees and the mountains in the distance. Every bit as good as the pictures, and most deserving of a 5-star review rating - highly recommended!"
