  • Clean, Quiet Stay for Grown-Ups

"This is a great stay for couples and small families. If you want a place to throw a wild party for your friends I do not recommend this place. Richard and Maureen have a beautiful home that deserves a lot of respect! We have stayed in many places, this by far surpasses them all. VERY clean, new appliances, quiet surroundings. All we wanted was a fireplace and a clean kitchen for the weekend (city living) and we got it! Best sleep. Dog approved. Short drive from NYC and even shorter drive to Woodstock. A jewel! Good owner follow-ups. Would stay here again!"

  • Perfect getaway.

"My friends and I have known one another for many years, and now in our 30s, decided to reunite in a location where it was possible to escape the noisy routine of our daily lives. I could not have found a better location for these purposes than this cabin. It is truly an understatement when advertised as a lot of bang for your buck, as it exceeded our expectations. Upon opening the door, you find floor to ceiling windows overlooking the most perfect private lake/mountain view, inviting you to the spacious wrap around deck (where we spent a good deal of our time playing cards, and being one with the surrounding nature). There is nothing finer than waking up to a cup of coffee on that deck, overlooking the lake and mountains. Early morning and late evening you will find clouds of mist hover over the lake. The cabin itself is fully operational, very clean, and stocked with anything you would require in a remote location. The boats and oars were in great condition, and we got much fun out of them. Rowing around the lake, we were able to catch about two dozen fish in all. The bedrooms are comfortable, and all come equipped with one or more fans. The livings rooms are perfect for socializing/ watching tv. The kitchen was completely functional and capable of making large meals. The bathrooms were fully functional, with no problems in either (hot water/good pressure/strong flush). The location feels almost "off the grid", as there is literally not cell service within miles (exactly what we were seeking). The owner was polite and very easy to deal with, which made for a seamless experience. Thank you, Emoke!"

  • Great house! Awesome time

"I stayed at The Mountain House with a group of friends for my 27th birthday. We had a fantastic time. The house has the perfect location - Just a few minutes from Windham and right off the main road with stores and restaurants. Tara was a very helpful and gracious host and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. She even provided reccomendations of things to do in the area. Also - the hot tub was awesome!"

  • Very Happy!!!

"Very happy with hospitality of the owner. we had very interesting and fun 3 days. Back yard leads to the river where he had a nice set-up of table, chairs and bonfire that made our nights very romantic. He was also very helpful with giving us good suggestions about surrounding sightseeing. So, we are very happy and highly recommend renting Ian's place."
