  • Couldn't have asked for anything more!

"We stayed at Jim's place for the Peasantman Triathlon that was held in Penn Yan and couldn't have been happier. The check in process with Jim was so easy and he promptly answered any of my questions prior to check in. Accessing the apartment was a breeze and we were so happy with the location. Located in the heart of Penn Yan we were within mere steps of many restaurants and stores. The actual apartment was up to date and so clean. We loved being able to spread out and get comfortable. Even though we didn't use it, they have a beautiful fireplace in the living room that I'm sure is great during the winter months. We couldn't have asked for a better bathroom...lots of comfy towels and they even provided some travel toiletries..just in case we forgot anything. Kitchen was well stocked, and there were even bottles of water for our arrival. We would definitely recommend this place and if we are ever in the area again, we would love to stay there!"

  • Best vacation!

"Bottom line: Most relaxing vacation we've had in a long time. The initial impression when you walk in, it's better than the photos. The cottage has very comfortable seating inside, but our favorite place was the screened-in porch. There are lots of options in the area for adventures - hiking, cycling (it can get hilly)(the bike shop in Geneva is helpful), wineries, etc., but we were sometimes torn between wanting to go out and do things, or just stay on the porch or down by the water to read and relax. Luckily we had one rainy day for that. What I didn't expect, since the cottage is on the west side of the lake, were the spectacular sunsets, with the sun setting behind us and hitting the clouds in the east. Another big plus: it was easy to cook - the kitchen has good pots and pans, etc., and there are good grocery stores and local produce options nearby. There is some road noise from Rt. 14, as it is pretty close, but it's quiet at night, and the lake, because it's so big, is really quiet. As for the train, the first time I heard it at night, I thought I was being transported in the Polar Express! We loved to hear the train! One suggestion: if you're just a couple, like us, don't forget to take twin bed sheets so that you have the option of sleeping on the porch. We've stayed in many vacation rentals over the years, and this was unusual in that: there was good light for reading; comfortable chairs and sofa for reading/watching tv; good equipment in the kitchen; lots of table space for eating; easy access to the water (no long, steep flight of stairs!). Becky and Don are gracious hosts who truly want you to be comfortable, and we definitely were."

  • Sweet serenity

"This cottage has every thing that I look for when I rent a cottage on one of the Finger Lakes. 1. It is on a road on which only the neighborhood people travel, so there is very little traffic noise and it is easy to walk. 2. It has safe off street parking. 3. The cottage is very well appointed and clean. 4. Many outdoor seating areas from which to enjoy the lake and its views. Also the front enclosed porch is a great plus. 5. A natural stone beach area with a gradual incline into the deeper water - good for all levels of swimmers and for those who prefer to just wade. 6. Big plus for this cottage is the ramp that goes straight from the driveway to the upstairs level of the cottage - roll those heavy suitcases right to your room! 7. The cottage has some older cottage charm, but updated where it is important (bathrooms). 8. The owners respond in a timely, friendly manner to your questions and concerns. 9. The cottage is "tucked in", so has sufficient privacy. If you are traveling to the Finger Lakes to enjoy the wineries you are within a short driving distance to several."

  • Beautiful and peaceful

"This was all we hoped for and more. The setting is magnificent - right on the lake with beautiful views from sunrise to sunset and late into the night. The house is extremely comfortable, well maintained, comfortable. They seemed to think of all the details that people overlook like reading lights, good cookware, comfortable chairs. My only preference would be for traditional coffee making options (where we can bring our own favorite brands ground) instead of Keuring cups. Thank you for a lovely stay. A few days more would have been even more ideal."
