  • Perfect vacation spot for rest and relaxation

"It was our first time to book a rental cottage on the lake and everything was exactly as stated in the description. Captain Joe and Pat have a comfortable cottage that fit our family of four (father, mother, and two adult children) perfectly. Our mission was twofold: to let Dad have a great fishing experience and to allow plenty of time for everyone to relax and unwind from the stress of work back home. Captain Joe found fish, but they just weren't biting. We'll have to try again next time. It helps that Joe offers charter fishing from his boat right next door. The second part of our mission was accomplished almost immediately. We arrived just before sunset and were able to witness one of the typical daily events at the cottage from its back deck and spacious porch windows. The clear water calmed, and the sun sank slowly into the lake, taking all our fatigue and stress with it. Follow the usage instructions in the notebook Joe provides. He anticipates your needs and is thorough because he wants you to have the best time ever while you're on Seneca Lake. You will find suggestions for dining, vineyard stops with free wine-tasting vouchers and local attractions for nearby day trips. Whether it's your first time to stay in the area or your fifty-first, you will feel at home from the moment you enter the back door. If you should have questions or problems, ask Joe for help. He is only a few steps away, but knows how allow for your privacy. We are missing the place already."

  • Highly recommended

"This was the 2nd year our group of 13 traveled to the Finger Lakes for a weekend wine tour. Last year we stayed in a hotel, but this year we decided to try the house rental route. I can safely say that our stay at Wood and Water has now spoiled us for all future trips to wine country, and that hotel stays will be a thing of the past for us. The property proved to be just as it was advertised. Lots of room.... the bedrooms were all good size. Nice kitchen and a big family room that has spectacular views of the lake. We especially enjoyed having multiple areas to relax outside.... the main deck off the house, the second deck halfway down the hill, the beach / campfire area at the water's edge, and the dock out on the water. Lisa was prompt and responsive to all of our inquiries leading up to our stay, and she was very clear about laying out the expectations for guest behavior. We all had a great time. I feel quite sure this will not be our last stay at this property."

  • Great place for a "girls'" weekend!

"My four friends and I stayed here this past weekend. The house was just right for our needs - comfortable, especially the living room which had a really comfy couch and recliner chair. It was too chilly to make use of the deck, but beautiful to look at - and must be really nice during warm weather. Bathrooms were very clean. Beds were comfortable. Trash had been taken out prior to our stay, so that wasn't an issue. There were some bees getting into one of the back bedrooms, and we couldn't figure out how. Luckily there was a can of bee/wasp spray which we made use of. I'd say we killed 10-12 over the weekend. The kitchen had everything we needed in terms of pots, pans, cutlery, utensils, etc. The light over the sink was out, which made it a bit dark in there when we were preparing food. BTW, wifi instructions are framed and on the wall in the living room. I'm not sure everyone would know right away to look on the wall for this information. The location is definitely good for places in the area to visit."
