  • Beautiful Home, Amazing Property, Fantastic Host

"The pictures and description don't do this place justice! There are no details left undone - Joe, our host, has thought of everything. The home was beautiful and FULLY stocked. It is located on a quiet road close to many outdoor activities: Catamount Ziplining which we highly recommend, Bash Bish Falls - highly recommend, and biking the Harlem Trail-aslo recommend. Great Barrington is close by and the town of Hillsdale has enough to make the trip a success (restaurants, super market IGA, Ice Cream, shops). Very easy to get to from lower NY-a short drive off the Taconic. We asked if there was an outdoor firepit and Joe ran out and bought one for us! Beautiful views from the house and outside. He was there when we arrived and gave us the tour and helped us plan our stay. Joe checked on us to make sure we were getting the most from our stay. The home is on 50+ beautiful private acres. The house was clean and the kitchen is state of the art- the bathrooms were clean, beautiful, up to date. There is a loft that sleeps plenty (the kids loved sleeping up there). I would highly recommend a family get away as well as any other trip where you are looking for the peace of the outdoors with every comfort and activity close by- any season. We will be returning...."

  • Sibling Vacation

""The Barn" was the perfect place for our sibling vacation! Plenty of room, great kitchen, pretty scenic area and quiet. Convenient to the Albany airport and highways, yet you are in the country. We built a fire one night and enjoyed some family time. Lastly, the complimentary golf carts were perfect for getting our "special needs" sister to and from the car."

  • Idyllic setting for a Long Weekend Getaway

"The home was a perfect location for getting away from it all, yet being convenient to shopping and dining in Great Barrington. The beds were very comfortable and the views spectacular. We had every intention of going out to dinner our first night, but were so captivated by the views from the front deck we sat back and enjoyed. We spent our days exploring the several towns within an easy drive. It was a relaxing weekend and we hope to come back and stay here again!"

  • Lovely house in quiet surroundings

"The situation of the house was perfect, surrounded by fields and with lovely views and sunsets from the back porch. It was also very comfortable and quiet. There are a couple of reasons why I didn't rate it with 5 stars. There weren't enough cereal bowls for potentially 6 guests - only 4 cereal bowls and 4 mugs. It would take very little time and expense to equip the kitchen more extensively. Also the kettle which was really bad and corroded and needed replacing. The handle fell apart whilst pouring a cup of tea and nearly caused a scalding accident and a washer from the handle was discovered at the bottom of a cup and luckily wasn't drunk. There was only one bedside light in the downstairs bedroom and so we borrowed one from upstairs. We were very confused by the downstairs bed and the way it had been made up. The mattress was very soft and squashy and we discovered a couple of days later that the warm feather quilt (which surely should have been on top of us and not underneath) had been put on the mattress beneath the bottom sheet?!!! and on top of the bed was only a very thin blanket which wasn't nearly warm enough for the chilly nights. I'd love to know why. We took a quilt from one of the upstairs beds to use over the top of us to keep warm. We ate in The Stacked Kitchen in Sharon and enjoyed a very tasty and reasonably cheap meal. Ashley, the owner was very friendly and helpful and the service was good. The area around Sharon is beautiful."
