  • Comfortable, wonderful home hidden in the woods

"My daughter, her husband and 2 children (ages 6 and 4) and I spent 5 wonderful days around Christmas in this beautiful well equipped home. If you like to cook, you'll find a perfect gourmet, well equipped, kitchen. It's the most child friendly home we have stayed in--great toys, books, gated steps, a highchair, stroller and great property around the home for play and snowmen. The owners attention to comfort and detail is unusual. The beds are so comfortable, and the baths are fully equipped with great bath products and towels. The owners have left large, beautiful books about subjects of interest in the Hudson Valley, and menus and guides to local restaurants and attractions that helped us quickly find good places to eat and visit. We've rented many homes, north and south and out west, during the holidays and in the summer and we all agreed this was #1!!"

  • Stay. You'll be happy you did.

"What a lovely little oasis Rich has created on Collins Street Ext., and don't forget ext! We arrived at night and used gps to get us here. Gps brings you to Collins Street, which is well past Collins Street ext. Yes I did have a vague recollection of reading don't follow gps ( follow Rich's very clear directions and you'll be fine)... Any way we found it (after calling Rich who was very helpful and patient) and we are so happy we did! Warm, inviting, and cozy, a refreshing change of scenery that I couldn't help but laugh, smile and be happy with while feeling completely at home. Ahh and it snowed during our stay! So let me add enchanting. The house is 8 miles from Great Barrington, at the foot of the Berkshires with Catamount ski area right around the corner. We don't ski but found some great little restaurants full of character and delicious food! I highly recommend Pleasant and Main in Housatonic (a place to relax and eat great food surrounded by friendly folks and cool antiques you can buy) (the venison stew!!yumm!) and Old Mill in South Egermont; an intimate roadside spot with a charming and knowledgeable bartender and more delicious food! (Their French onion soup is amazing!) So long story short? Rich is great! The house is great! The area is great! You found your romantic getaway! Stay here. You will be happy you did."

  • Perfect Winter Weekend

"Could not have been happier with this rental. It's very clean, beautifully decorated, lots of great books & games, a toasty fire place...the list goes on. We made dinner in the well-stocked kitchen, spent the morning in Hudson, and had a delicious (pricey) dinner in town. Love that the house is so close to downtown, but also feels wonderfully remote. I went for a jog on Saturday and probably encountered only 5 cars. Re: Food: Fish & Game was very expensive for dinner; it's a lovely setting, but the food didn't quite justify the cost. Same with Olde Hudson—this is a specialty shop in town that has most groceries, but everything is very $$$. Suggest bringing food from your local grocery or stopping at the Price Chopper. Bonfiglio & Bread, on the other hand, was absolutely delicious and reasonable—definitely go for a light breakfast (& pastries!). Note: You are asked to wash sheets & towels—easy, as there's a new washer and dryer in the basement. But make sure you leave time! Can't wait to return."
