  • I wish we could have stayed for longer!

"We loved our stay at June and David’s cabin – it’s beautifully done up and furnished and very spacious. Having just spent a few nights in the city where we had eaten out every night, it was great to be able to cook in and enjoy the evening with the open fire and a bottle of red. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t great while we were there, but we still managed to enjoy a couple of local walks, and an enormous dinner at Tavern 214. Maybe it’s just our British appetites, but the starters were the same size as we would expect a main to be! The cabin is a very romantic place to spend a few nights for a retreat – we even got engaged there!"

  • Feels like home

"We've stayed at the house this summer and last and we absolutely love it. We always talk about how the house has a natural flow in how it connects room-to-room and of course the outside space, such that makes it incredibly comfortable to spend time in. Everything you might be looking for is in a place you would expect it to be -- we love to cook, so we especially appreciate it in the kitchen. This is so rarely the case when one rents that it's a breath of fresh air. Our four year old daughter has even asked us on a couple of occasions "if we can live there all the time." All of this to say what an amazing job that the hosts have done! Thanks for sharing the house with us on these two occasions!"

  • A Perfect Embodiment of Pure Berkshires Beauty

"I must confess that I found this listing after another lease agreement happened to fall through at the last minute. Well, that's the best thing that could have happened to me, a blessing in disguise. Loving all the Western Mass summer attractions, I never stayed on the New York side of the Berkshires before. If that is your concern, don't fret. Tanglewood is less than 25 minutes away, and many other great spots are also close: the Shakespeare Theatre, Barrington Theatre, museums, great restaurants, and lots of hiking and nature. I've been staying in the Berkshires for years, and this property has the most beautiful view I have ever seen. It's so open, bucolic, serene -- and the backyard is well maintained, so sitting in the back, and playing in the grass, is a joy not overwhelmed by bugs and wild growth all over (all of that is kept at a safe, but beautifully close, distance). The house itself is spacious enough to be comfortable for several people, and it's VERY clean. This is important when you're staying so close to the woods and mountains. I didn't see anything more than a couple ants while I was there. It's not an overstatement to say that my summer stay in the Berkshires this year was magical and unforgettable; and Rick's family's place allowed that to happen. You can tell that he and his family love this house and take good care of it. That's always a good sign. If you want beauty and comfort and all things Berkshires, then this is a wonderful place to stay. You absolutely will not be disappointed. And, it most certainly helps that in all his dealings, Rick is quickly responsive and easy to reach. I strongly recommend."

  • Away from it all stay

"This is a small - one room does all- beautiful spot in the country of upstate New York . The cabin is surrounded by a small garden and extensive meadowland which the owner cuts a winding track through, and forests There were many wild flowers and birds we'd never seen in the UK aswell as the owner's 3 horses, hens and goats. The owners are friendly and helpful and the cabin simple but characterful , with all the basics. I've only given 4 stars as due to work continually being done around the property, there are quite a lot of mechanical noises going on in the day if you're not out exploring. Also bedding was a bit thread bare in places and there could be more cutlery - literally 3 of everything, no jug and only one tea towel. We like living away from it all and are country people, but think these few additions would really make a difference."
