  • Relaxing get away!

"Arrived by bus on memorial weekend into the center of Woodstock. The cottage is around a 15 minute walk from the drop off point- The majority of the walk is via a path but there is a short section on an unpaved road (we took a detour via the golf course which shortened the walk on the road). Billy's wife Jane met us and gave us the keys from the cottage, which is located near their main house. We didn't see or hear too much from them throughout our whole trip. The cottage was clean and backs onto a running stream. The cottage has double glazing, so its your choice whether you listen to the running water or not from the bedroom, as the double glazed windows shut off any noise from outside. Had pizza on the day we arrived from the local pizza shop and ate the remainder for lunch the following day as the portions were pretty big (one small pizza for two is fine). We took advantage of the nice weather and grilled both evening, buying the meat and veg from the organic store in Woodstock. (just south of the pizza shop- not the one that backs onto rite aid or CVS). We finally met Billy as we were leaving and he kindly offered to drop us both off at the bus stop in Woodstock. We would definitely recommend streamside cottage!"

  • Cozy Family Getaway in the Woods

"This Craftsman cottage had everything we were looking for in a long weekend getaway. First, the house is so charming and cozy. We just returned from a Memorial Day vacation but I can't wait to come back in the fall or winter to enjoy the fireplace and dark wood interior. I agree with at least one other reviewer, the pictures don't do it justice, particularly the living room, which is larger than we expected. Two couples with younger kids (two 12-year-olds and a 6-year-old) had plenty of room to cook, play cards, etc. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, and there were plenty of linens and towels for all. Next, the surroundings are gorgeous. The house sits among giant trees and near a beautiful cliff. We took advantage of the surroundings, spending much of our time outdoors on the property and hiking nearby. The kids loved the plants, rocks and streams they discovered. Further, the house is in the perfect location for exploring Woodstock, including town center, swimming holes, art and more. Finally, Marietta is a wonderful host. She communicated everything we needed for our arrival, made herself available throughout the stay, and was just a pleasure to deal with!"

  • Feels like home

"We've stayed at the house this summer and last and we absolutely love it. We always talk about how the house has a natural flow in how it connects room-to-room and of course the outside space, such that makes it incredibly comfortable to spend time in. Everything you might be looking for is in a place you would expect it to be -- we love to cook, so we especially appreciate it in the kitchen. This is so rarely the case when one rents that it's a breath of fresh air. Our four year old daughter has even asked us on a couple of occasions "if we can live there all the time." All of this to say what an amazing job that the hosts have done! Thanks for sharing the house with us on these two occasions!"
