  • Absolutely beautiful house and grounds, impeccable style, cleanliness, amenities, terrific hosts.

"We rented the house for son's commencement w/end at Bard. The house sits on 40 acres of grounds about 1mile from Bard, so it was very convenient for events. The hosts, Harlan and Toby, are charming, gracious, and care a great deal about making your stay memorable. The house is beautifully designed and appointed, it's super clean & practical. Tobey and Harlan even have a caretaker, John, who lives in a cottage on the property, and who is extremely friendly and helpful. The entire experience was brilliant."

  • Charming home, charming owner

"The property was just perfect, totally charming and elegant without being at all stuffy, absolutely comfortable, and a great location, just a short drive to either Red Hook or Rhinebeck and a short walk to a great local restaurant. That said we didn't eat out much because the house itself was such a magnificent place to cook (I can't say enough about the fab kitchen-- fully stocked with pots/pans/tools and an awesome commercial stove/oven) and eat (screened porch at night, picnic table off the kitchen for our morning coffee etc,, and full dining area with large table when the weather was less forgiving). Esther was a perfect host, always available, delightful, knowledgeable. The grounds are huge, beautiful and truly private. We hope to be back early and often!"

  • Superb place to spend time

"The property is amazing, green and peaceful, with everything you need to lower your blood pressure and raise your pleasure quotient. The screened-in porch overlooking the pond became our home (we didn't eat a single meal inside long weekends over a whole month). On hot days, the pool and garden are like Eden. Quiet road with stunning neighboring farms make it impossible not to walk nearby. A little farther afield but still a short walk away you can explore 19th century graves, pick berries and apples, and take in spectacular sunsets over the Catskills (yes, they are real mountains). Farms in the area provide the freshest and best tasting produce one can buy anywhere. And between Rhinebeck, Red Hook, and Tivoli (with Hudson just a little further up the road), you have many restaurants, cafes, and galleries to choose from. A wonderful vacation--short or long."

  • Perfect Family Vacation!!

"I can't say enough great things about this vacation. I echo the sentiments of the other reviews. The house was perfect. Carol and her family have given careful thought to what a vacation house should have. The kitchen has everything you could possibly ever need. The pool was so great - my kids went swimming every day and couldn't get enough of the water. My family went on the hiking trails and we used the tennis court and basketball net. If you want to get away from it all and you want to relax with your family, this is the perfect house. There is something for all ages. Thank you Carol for a wonderful vacation."
