"Just returned home after spending 5 nights in Bill's wonderful Harlem apartment. We were two couples from Idaho and Wyoming visiting New York City for the very first time, and we could not have chosen a better and more cost efficient place to stay. First, I must note how great Bill was to work with. From the very first inquiry, he was very informative and accommodating. He was in contact throughout the entire process and was available if needed throughout our stay. Thanks Bill for being a great host and allowing us a couple of extra hours at departure due to our late flight! The two-bedroom apartment is exactly as it appears in the pictures. It is clean, has everything you need, and was ready the moment we showed up. As couples, we are in our 50's and 60's, and had no problem negotiating the stairs (though they are steep and narrow). This is a beautiful brownstone in Harlem, so it is not huge and spacious, but is quaint and very comfortable. The neighborhood provides an authentic NYC experience. People on the streets were friendly and paid us no special attention. We did 5 days strictly by public transportation and rode the subway everywhere. $31.00 for a 7-day metro pass, with a couple of mainline subway stops within .03-.05 miles of the apartment. We visited the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, walked the Brooklyn Bridge, took in 2 shows (Cats and Beautiful), visited Times Square twice, saw the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, went up to Top of the Rock, bicycled in Central Park, played golf at Bethpage Red (Black course was closed unfortunately), ate at Harlem Shake and Sylvia's Soul Food in Harlem, and took in a Yankees vs Red Sox game. We did all of this via the metro and LIRR (to Bethpage from Penn Station) and our own two feet. We returned to the apartment several times after midnight and never felt unsafe walking the streets around Bill's apartment late at night. With the Metro App on our phone, we were able to navigate the subway system quite efficiently. We only had to backtrack a couple of times. If I were to visit NYC again, I would definitely consider staying at Bill's place in Harlem once again."
