  • Comfortable and convenient lodging in a safe and great neighborhood.

"Perfect for our needs, but may not be so for everyone. We will definitely and happily return. Pros: The mattress is comfortable. The room is a nice size for two people, with ample dresser space, a large closet with more than enough hangers, and high ceilings. The apartment is walking distance from Central Park, Riverside Park, the 70th Street Pier, Lincoln Center, Columbus Circle, Trader Joe's, Fairway Market, and Zabar's. The wifi. TV, coffee maker, and fridge all work. The two large windows let in a lot of natural light. The building was quiet during the week that we stayed. Cons: It's a 30-step walk-up, which didn't bother us, but could be a problem for some. The pillows were ridiculously thin, and to us, were useless. We provided our own. I suggested to the manager that they provide two feather pillows and two hypoallergenic pillows of good quality, and he said he would pass on my suggestion to the owner - so if you are at all fussy about pillows, inquire to see if they have improved the pillows since our visit. There are no outlets close to the bed, so if you like to use your electronics in bed while you charge them, you'll need to bring two six or eight foot extension cords, one for each side of the bed. We stayed during the winter, when the outside temperature was in the 20's and 30's. The heat for the apartment is provided by an old steam radiator which you must manually turn on and off. When it is on, the room gets too hot; when it's off, the room gets too cold, unless you regulate the temperature by cracking the window a little and letting the cold air temper the heat from the radiator. Even with the fluctuating outside temperatures, we were able to estimate how much we needed to open the window to achieve a comfortable indoor environment, but some people might not want to fuss this way to regulate the room temperature. The double hung windows open only from the top, so to open or close the windows, you have to stand on a chair. This was no problem for us, but could be a hassle for some people. Some tips: Trader Joe's and Fairway Market are usually crowded and sometimes miserable places to shop. There is a small neighborhood market, called Jubilee, on Freedom Place between 68th and 69th Streets - that market is almost never too crowded. Also, there's a CVS on the corner of 70th Street and West End Avenue, which carries a lot of staples like milk, juice, soda, cereal, snacks, and other essentials for apartment living."

  • AMAZING! Perfect location, Perfect Owner, Perfect Apartment!

"This ground floor studio apartment is perfect! The location is amazing. You are close to the subway, stores, groceries, Central Park, The Lincoln Center, and anything you need. Our family of 4, including two teenagers spent 4 days at the apartment and were very comfortable. I was able to cook full meals in the cute kitchen. The beds were comfortable and we had plenty of space. The apartment was clean, in a safe neighborhood, and quiet. We felt like we were living in the city! Remember you are in New York City so you may occasionally hear some street noise. Barry was so helpful and answered all our questions even when I overloaded his VRBO email. He was so kind and I so appreciate his very reasonable rate on this amazing apartment. I hope we get to stay again soon. Also, we drove from Virginia and had our car so we found a lot on 64th that if you make reservations is only $25 a day. You can go to http://nyc.bestparking.com/ and find lots anywhere in NYC. This was perfect for us to make sure our car was safe and we did not have to move it during our stay. Thank you Barry for giving this family a great Christmas vacation!"
