  • Lovely Host, Lovely apartment, Lovely area

"Marina was the most welcoming and friendly host, and greeted us (we were hot and tired) with a smile and a bottle of chilled water, which was exactly what we needed. Marina knows what a traveler needs, as is obvious from the facilities in the apartment. The fridge is full of chilled water, half and half; there is complimentary tea and coffee, lovely shampoos, conditioners, soaps, body wash. There are robes, umbrellas , hair dryers, DVDs, sewing kit, all kinds of useful things that one might have forgotten to bring. The apartment is artsy and comfortable and is in such a great location - right in the middle of the West Village, which is full of gorgeous restaurants, coffee shops, little stores; there is jazz and theater close by. We were so pleased we decided to stay here. I highly recommend this apartment, and could not have asked for a nicer host. Thank you, Marina."

  • Cozy Home for NYC Adventure

"This was my very first trip to NYC. I wanted to stay "like a local" and enjoy the quieter parts of the city. First off, dealing with Luca (property manager) was fantastic. He was very organized and prompt with information. Getting to the apartment was very easy, many subway lines intersect just 2 blocks away. The location of the Carmin Street apartments cannot be beat, we took the subway up-town, down-town and over to Brooklyn, all from the station just 2 blocks away. I was traveling with my 7 year old daughter and we found so many parks and playgrounds within walking distance. This is a perfect base for a family vacation to the city. Previous posters commented on the subway noise int he apartment, and yes we could hear and feel the subway. After the first night we did not even notice it. Other than the "slight" noise from the subway, the apartment was quiet. No noise from the street. The private courtyard was wonderful!! The neighborhood had many great restaurants, our favorite was the Grey Dog. Wonderful staff, lots of choices, great coffee and nice beer selection. We also got carry out from Potjanee (Thai) and had bagels from Bagels on the Square on the way to the subway station every morning. I fell in love with NYC during this trip and I plan to return soon, and will definitely try to stay here again!!"

  • LOCATION, COMFORT, GREAT HOST

"I and my sister stayed here for 8 nights and loved the place. Very close to several subway lines (the E line is at the corner of 8th Avenue and 44th Street--which is only one block from the apartment--the E line will take you to the air train then into JFK for easy and inexpensive airport transportation). Only one block from Broadway, close to restaurants, shops, hop on hop off is across the street on 8th. I'd rate it a five stars except the apartment could use updating on the living room chairs (rips in the upholstery) and sofa (a bit worn) and the apartment smelled of cigarette smoke (from an adjacent apartment?). Open the window when you leave and it will smell more fresh when you return. Don, the owner, was VERY helpful and returned almost all emails the same day. This place won't disappoint you. I stayed in the bedroom and my sister stayed on the very comfortable sofa. (It pulls out to a sofa bed, but she just made up the sofa for a bed without pulling it out and it was large and comfortable for her.) The best part of this apartment is that it is so easy to go back to late in the afternoon to re-fresh, re-group and then go back out again, and the NYC subway is easy to figure out, so the fact that you're only a few blocks from the A, C, E, 1, 2, 3, 7, and N, R, Q lines is a great plus. Walk a couple of blocks to the Q line and go all the way to Coney Island with no transfers, or walk one block to the E line and get all the way to JFK with only one transfer to the air Train...."
