  • Conveniently located, clean, comfortable house. We enjoyed our stay while attending the PGA.

"Owner was very responsive to two issues while we stayed at the house: 1) air conditioner unit went out, and he ensured that it was returned to operational status by the next day; and 2) we found that coffee maker didn't work on our first morning, and it had been replaced with a new unit by that afternoon. The house was comfortable and nicely furnished. The dishes and silverware seemed to come from several sets, which was inconsistent with the quality of the furnishings and of the house. We enjoyed having the pool table to use and some of the interesting books that were in the house. Owner provided excellent maps and information about restaurants, public transit, and the area to help guests enjoy their stay."

  • Quiet apartment in great Upper West neighborhood

"Because there are few reviews of this on VRBO (log book in apartment shows many rentals), I've included a few extra details.  Bottom line: we will stay here again. The apartment is offered by a management company.  Although this likely increases the price, the assistance offered in regards to email, telephone and the set-up and maintenance of the apartment is a good tradeoff. This apartment in the back of the second floor of a brownstone is located in a toney and quiet residential Westside neighborhood with very convenient access to transportation, shopping and restaurants. No street  noise whatsoever. The floor plan itself is small but  efficient (the pictures on the website are accurate).  A big plus in summer are the two  quiet AC units: one  in the  main room /kitchenette area and one in the  small  bedroom.  They are more than adequate. (I don't know about cold weather heating.)  The supply of  small items had hits and misses. The bedroom and living room, the latter with its small barstool dining table,  are  excellent spaces to spend the few hours you will stay in the apartment. Although the appliances in the kitchenette are good, the counter space for food preparation is very small. While toasting bread, making an omelet on the 4 burner cooktop, boiling a cup of  water or preparing a frozen dinner (yuck) in the  microwave is simple, preparing a more involved meal is not easy. The cabinets over the counter are very high: you need a step stool (supplied) to access beyond the first shelf. These last few comments on the kitchenette may not be applicable to many renters. We found it a minor inconvenience.  It's a great place to stay.  We will surely come back to stay here."

  • Cozy Home for NYC Adventure

"This was my very first trip to NYC. I wanted to stay "like a local" and enjoy the quieter parts of the city. First off, dealing with Luca (property manager) was fantastic. He was very organized and prompt with information. Getting to the apartment was very easy, many subway lines intersect just 2 blocks away. The location of the Carmin Street apartments cannot be beat, we took the subway up-town, down-town and over to Brooklyn, all from the station just 2 blocks away. I was traveling with my 7 year old daughter and we found so many parks and playgrounds within walking distance. This is a perfect base for a family vacation to the city. Previous posters commented on the subway noise int he apartment, and yes we could hear and feel the subway. After the first night we did not even notice it. Other than the "slight" noise from the subway, the apartment was quiet. No noise from the street. The private courtyard was wonderful!! The neighborhood had many great restaurants, our favorite was the Grey Dog. Wonderful staff, lots of choices, great coffee and nice beer selection. We also got carry out from Potjanee (Thai) and had bagels from Bagels on the Square on the way to the subway station every morning. I fell in love with NYC during this trip and I plan to return soon, and will definitely try to stay here again!!"
