  • The perfect place...

"1871 is the ideal 'residence', the ideal place to stay, for anyone visiting NYC. My wife and a friend had a short but delightful stay there, with everything provided in their Suite and with complete privacy, and in a fantastic location for anything anyone might want to do or see. There is also an excellent choice of restaurants and cafes very close by. We consider it an extraordinary 'find' and would be very happy to return."

  • Yes, We would stay here again

"Okay, I have to admit I was a little nervous when we rented this place. The price seemed really good but I couldn't find any reviews about the property. So let me start by saying yes, I would rent this place again. The location is really superb. The room is about 200 square feet give or take. It has a decent size refrigerator in it a microwave and a couple of burners but we didn't use. There was a coffee maker which we used everyday. I was worried about where we would do laundry and if there was going to be enough room in the refrigerator and if we would be able to prepare any meals in the room. Although we didn't use any of them, there are Laundromats that are about a block the way on both sides of the street. There is also a number of wash and fold Laundromats that you might want to use. Another concert was if there would be affordable places to eat near the studio. There are a number of restaurants within one or two block radius that are reasonable. Some have lunch specials and others happy hour specials that we took advantage of. The majority of the meals we ended up eating where microwavable Trader Joe's meals that we purchased at Trader Joe's. I have to admit I was kind of surprised their meals are really tasty and easy to make. The unit also has plates and cups and Cutlery. As I mentioned earlier the room is fairly small and there is only one chair besides the bed just sit down on. Another thing worried about was where would we put our large suitcases. I had heard that there was a storage room downstairs you could use to store your suitcases. It ended up that there is also a table that has tall legs in the room so we were able to put both of the suitcases under the table for the duration of our trip. I had read that the bathroom was small. That is not an understatement when we got there the shower is fairly tight and it didn't have anywhere to put the soap or shampoo while you are showering, so we went out and bought a shower caddy and left it there for the next and future guests . There was plenty of warm hot water to shower with and the water pressure is decent. Truth be known you're not going to spend that much time in the room. Speaking of spending time in the room, there is freet Wi-Fi and the TV is nice to have. We brought our own Roku so that we would be able to stream TV the Wi-Fi has great bandwidth so we had no problems with streaming movies or TV shows. So again I would probably stay here again if I was coming to New York althoug"

  • Amazing Suite near Central Park

"Three of us stayed in the European Suite for the New Year vacation stay in Manhattan. I must say, this was a terrific experience. Julia is an incredible host and made every aspect of our booking, stay and checkout so easy and comfortable. The entire townhouse is gorgeous and immaculate and has everything you need for a great stay. Beautiful space with attention to detail…Full kitchen and dining area, coffee/french press…All three of us felt as if we had the comforts of home plus more. Rather than a hotel room,we wanted more space to move about in for our stay and this suite was more than enough room for 3. The apartment was bright, sunny, airy and the views are pretty. Honestly, if your looking for an alternative to hotels this is the place! I would recommend this over any hotel and we have stayed in many in NYC. Also, location, location, location. Beautiful street, beautiful townhouse right by Central Park. Thank you Julia!"

"Very handily situated a few blocks from Central Park and close to two Subway stations. Room was clean and tidy .Surrounded by nice restaurants. Stairs are fairly narrow and steep."
