  • Perfect location

"Would strongly recommend this studio for anyone looking for a long-term stay in New York. The ground-floor studio is clean and well-maintained. The bathroom and kitchen are updated with modern appliances and fixtures, while the living space is spacious (for a studio) and comfortable. Despite being on the ground floor, there is plenty of light if one opens the blinds. The location is the real selling point though. Located a block from Central Park and 2-3 blocks from three different subway stations, this Upper West Side apartment is in the heart of one of the most beautiful areas of the city. The street and building were quiet, and we only heard other tenants in the stairwell a few times. Barry was responsive, professional, and accommodating. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to a friend of family member. There are numerous restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, grocers, and bars within walking distance (and the aforementioned Central Park and subway stations). No complaints, but I would offer the advice that a couple would probably feel less crowded than a family with children. Our two teens were comfortable, but a long term stay might be difficult with more than two occupants. Most importantly, I would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend to others. The stay at Barry's made us feel like real New Yorkers (not tourists), and the value of that was immeasurable."

  • Quiet apartment in great Upper West neighborhood

"Because there are few reviews of this on VRBO (log book in apartment shows many rentals), I've included a few extra details.  Bottom line: we will stay here again. The apartment is offered by a management company.  Although this likely increases the price, the assistance offered in regards to email, telephone and the set-up and maintenance of the apartment is a good tradeoff. This apartment in the back of the second floor of a brownstone is located in a toney and quiet residential Westside neighborhood with very convenient access to transportation, shopping and restaurants. No street  noise whatsoever. The floor plan itself is small but  efficient (the pictures on the website are accurate).  A big plus in summer are the two  quiet AC units: one  in the  main room /kitchenette area and one in the  small  bedroom.  They are more than adequate. (I don't know about cold weather heating.)  The supply of  small items had hits and misses. The bedroom and living room, the latter with its small barstool dining table,  are  excellent spaces to spend the few hours you will stay in the apartment. Although the appliances in the kitchenette are good, the counter space for food preparation is very small. While toasting bread, making an omelet on the 4 burner cooktop, boiling a cup of  water or preparing a frozen dinner (yuck) in the  microwave is simple, preparing a more involved meal is not easy. The cabinets over the counter are very high: you need a step stool (supplied) to access beyond the first shelf. These last few comments on the kitchenette may not be applicable to many renters. We found it a minor inconvenience.  It's a great place to stay.  We will surely come back to stay here."

  • Perfect Manhattan Aerie

"This is a great place for a NYC visit. I am a former New Yorker who knows the city fairly well; my husband and I were visiting my adult children who live and work in Manhattan and Brooklyn. The apartment is roomy enough that my NYC-dwelling offspring were jealous (!), it is clean, comfortable and quiet, and high enough to have fabulous views of the city and the river. Restaurants, wine bars, groceries, subways, and venues like Lincoln Center are all within walking distance. We could walk to the river or to Central Park, and it was a straight subway shot to Brooklyn as well. In addition, a well-stocked kitchen gave me the option for a few meals "at home," including a dinner with kids and partners. Jeannie and Ray met me at the door and made me feel welcome instantly; they were very responsive to texts when I had questions. This was my first foray into VRBO rentals in NYC and I was not only not disappointed but I was thoroughly pleased. Soooo much better than being in a hotel! I would stay here again in a NY nanosecond"

  • Perfect place for two

"This was our second time back to this cute little place. Perfect spot for the two of us. You cannot beat this location on the Upper West Side. Quiet street and everything is nearby: Central Park - Strawberry Fields, 72 Street subway station, Zabars, Fairway Market, Lincoln Center, just to name a few. We really appreciate that the owners and coordinator live in the city. We will definitely be back!"
