  • Great Location, A Little Small

"I spent two months in this apartment and had a wonderful stay. For me, the location was unbeatable -- two blocks from Central Park and three blocks from the 79th Street subway stop, close to Zabar's, Fairway, and lots of great restaurants. 15 minutes across the park to the Met. While this is what passes for a one-bedroom in NYC, it's actually one large room that has been divided in half with a bathroom at the far end of the bedroom and a "kitchen" carved out of one corner in the living room. Cooking was pretty much out of the question other than reheating and microwaving, but with Seamless and so many restaurant that will deliver, I didn't need to cook. The pictures are accurate, although the kitchen is a little tired. Because it's on the ground floor, you have to keep the lower blinds closed unless you want pedestrians to be able to see inside. The landlords were responsive to anything we needed and the other tenants in the building were very friendly."

  • Great Location and Large Space

"We stayed for 7 days in December and found the apartment to be a great place to base our NYC visit. As others have said, its a 5 star location - elegant old brownstone homes, safe, quiet, peaceful, close to subway, bus and in good proximity to terrific grocery stores. This particular building is the least attractive of all the others on the block. The room itself is substantial, allowing us to spread out and enjoy having a real table and sofa to relax on. The bathroom is also unusually large. The kitchenette is tiny but adequate for reheating take out or light meals. Everything worked for us. Hot water was plentiful. We didn't use the wifi. There were no instructions for it - you should ask Dov about it if you need it. The furnishings and decor are not what I'd call 5 star, but this is a budget accommodation so base your expectations accordingly. The building must have been quite elegant years and years ago from the looks of the wall and ceiling decoration but it is now serving its purpose as an affordable rental in a fantastic location for those of us not accustomed to NYC prices! The infamous bathroom door that others have mentioned slides effortlessly now and the sloping stairs were no big deal. Maybe they too had been reinforced or fixed somehow as they certainly felt secure, just a bit at an angle. The bed was comfortable. Yes, the linens and towels are mismatched and most are thin and an additional blanket in winter would be nice - however with the radiator heat you are cozy (so much so that we had the windows open all the time to moderate the heat). It was clean enough for us - it is a very old property so is not perfect. We would agree with others though that it would have been helpful to have an information sheet on things like what to do with the garbage, who to call if have problems, wifi password, where the subway/bus stops, groceries and restaurants are close by. If you are not fussy people but appreciate a good value this is a great place to stay. We hope to be able to return."

  • Nice, clean place

"Rented this place for my in-laws and parents to stay while they visited NYC. They had no complaints. Clean, working A/C, wireless, TV. Close walking distance to many fantastic restaurants, safe neighborhood. Would rent again."

  • It is a nice house in a good location

"We stayed in this property with our kids. The facilities are good in the property. We spent good time and we recommend the property to families with children while the couples may use it. It is close to Central Park and also transportation is easy by subway as there are main different lines in a close proximity. This is a town house therefore it is not a new house but it is a good experience and in the neighbourhood it is good to see these houses. There is a garden that is helpful when you travel with the children."
